Hillsboro-Roubaix Roll Call
So, 24 hours after registration for H-R opened-up, every race except for the women's and the Pro/1/2/3 is filled.
I'm pretty optimistic this year, so I registered for the 3/4s. This graduate school thing's given me plenty of time to train, so let's see if it's paid off at all.

I'll be there. It's well over my distance at this point in the year, as I've managed to do two (2) three hour rides this winter. Two hours a day, every day, but nothing resembling long rides yet. 88 miles is going to take it's toll, particularly if I have to work at the front.
We'll be bringing pretty much the full team, which will add up to quite a bit of firepower on the road. All of the PDT guys plus the "regular" Cat1/2 guys...myself and 4 others. 12 all told. Unless some of the local Pros show up and roll off the front, we should have a guy on the podium.

Wow, most of the fields are closed already. I'll be there in the 4/5 race. Hopefully I'll have the mileage by that time to actually hang in there...

Work all day yesterday and class all day today and I completely forgot and now the 4/5 race is filled!
Woe is me. Woe, is, me.

Despite the best efforts of God, Yahweh, Buddha, Satan, et. al., a small group of cyclists from Chicago went down yesterday to Hillsboro in order to scope out the course. Besides the copious amounts of gravel all over, the pavement looks to be in good shape, with few potholes or other hazards. Well, speaking of hazards, there are several dogs worth watching for. One snagged a teammate's right legwarmer, another almost took out a couple of us that were putting in a breakaway pace effort. I was in the back of the pack of three, and I heard an "Oh, ****!" saw a patch of brown, and almost ran into the back wheel of another guy. So much for paying attention.
I'll assume that by race day, the promoters will have gotten word to the owners that it might be wise to chain up their dogs for that afternoon.
Oh, KOM of the day goes to Transplant – after burning myself up from the aforementioned breakaway, I had nothing left in my legs to respond to his big kick up the road back into Hillsboro. Looks like I have a bit of training to do before race day. =)

I got chased a couple weeks ago by a mean chow looking dog at about mile 5. Everytime i'd yell at the dog it would just stop. Then about a half mile later at the top of a hill i had a little dog barking and nipping at my legs . Atleast i've never seen a dog on race day before there!
