ProRacer Comeback??

Hey all, I have been corresponding with a pro who is planning his "comeback" and wishes to remain anonymous. I am planning to put up his files in my blog. I don't know if this is of any interest to you, but I thought I would give the heads up. I think it is interesting (and will be) to see how "mortal" an untrained pro is, and how cool it will be to se him return to form.

In other Website promotion news, the diary writer Jon Chodroff on PelotonEast just recently beat Ty Hamilton at the SanDimas TT. Reading through his stuff, this kid is an unbelievable powerhouse. I can't wait to TT against him when he comes back east.

He rode 2 hours to the race, raced with other pro racers, placed 20th because he was boxed in and rode 3 hours back?

Nuts.

I'm not sure about that.

Red line - CP20
Blue line - CP5
Green line - Has wattages higher than either blue or red, which leads me to believe it's not CP6.

I also read recently that he had been unofficially retired from September until MB contacted him in December. He was "barely riding" and is still getting back into shape. I'm pretty sure we'll see Tyler back in good form by the summer.

Not so sure, he was OTB at Tinkoff as well.

This is great. I'd love to continue seeing the files.

What level of Pro is this? Domestic, Euro, ProTour?

I'm no TH fan, but 6th at USPRO TT isn't fast?

WJO -- interesting stuff, thanks. When I lived in NC, one of the regulars at our local shop ride was an ex-pro who now just did that 1 hour weekly ride. Still tore our legs off and taught us a bunch. Good guy.

Not when you were considered a TdF winner and one of the fastest Euro pro's. Not to take anything away from the USPRO championships but lets face it a top ProTour level rider is, at his best, better than a top US Domestic rider. I have no love TH, I really had hoped that he was being truthfull but we lied and took his fans money to try to get out of his drug bust. Personally I think he should have been given a lifetime ban, not so much for his use of drugs (his contemporaries were just as guilty) but because he took money from his fans when he knew damn well he was guilty. If he's a lower top ten domestic rider now then he's probably where he belongs with out the 'help'.

I talked with TH via email roughly 3 1/2 months ago (for a story), at which time he was entertaining retirement. Hamilton is fast no doubt but has raced a full competitive season in how long? Give him a little time, the legs will come around.

Well we'll see. I have my doubts that he'll be a top rider again, even on the domestic scene.

Meh, those charts could well be me. After moving the decimal point over a notch.

Last year there was a Cat 5 who exploded on the local scene and simply demolished the spring criteriums. Turned out he was an elite level triathlete. Gotta love little surprises like that in the field.
