Here's the problem with all the aero TT crap
It's largely geared towards shaving 10 - 20 seconds off a one hour effort for elite riders. Not for nothing, but once you've gotten a TT bike and the dopey G. Jetson helmet, you're 95% of the way there. I'm losing my category by 4 minutes in a 40 minute effort, not 4 seconds. I'm just trying to improve my placing. Do I care whether I get 14th vs. 15th place? Not really. I'd care more if I were in the top 5.
I'm not. Maybe when I hit 55+ if lightening strikes some of fastest guys my age I ride with over the next 4 years I'll be a top 5 contender in that category. Very possible if I'm still insane enough to be driving 2 hours for a 7 mile TT. At that point I might give a **** about a skinsuit that fits like a friggin turnaquet to save 4 seconds in that race.
Why would I race until I'm over 55? Why not? What's the alternative? Here's what I can do on Sunday mornings as I go from 50 to 60+: sit home and wait to get a coronary, or actually have one attempting to chase guys like Dr. W. around on the Nyack Ride or in some vets race. I'd rather die trying to catch the Sultan of Sandbaggers.
P.S. Mounted the PTap on the TT bike today. You're all in Big Trouble.

I'm 50 and my daughter is 14, so I'm not a grandfather yet, although I'm sure such a circumstance is rather routine in your trailer park. Back to your WWF and Nascar, and try to come up with a wittier comment next time, won't you?

I think your right. If you need to shave 4 minutes you don't need a disc, skinsuit, aero helmet or even aerobars... you need a coach and you need to improve your engine.

By the way, if you think anyone cares about this idiocy besides the weenies present, you are profoundly incorrect.

tI've been told a million times, to a certain point the aero helmet and disc help the slower guys more.

I point out in my original comments that the TT rig and the helmet save most of the time. I was alluding to such esoteric TT crap as skinsuits and airfoil handlebars (Dr. W. hysterically suggested I'd be faster with those once, I almost fell out of my chair). As for 'improving the motor' or 'pedaling angry', I refer you to the iconic image that inspires me most:

Buy a faster bike. And a more aero helmet. Justify it by saying you want to skip 13th place and get 12th. I think rear disk (you have a PT - get that disk thing they have now), an uber slick TT bike, 55T ring, etc etc.
Hate to say this but my observation is that the 50-55 year range is the bit that hurts most. Guys who beat me at 50, I beat them at 55. And I'm 15 years younger than them. Well, him. Only if I am near him in a field sprint. He's usually smarter than me though. Damn him.

Making a kilometer blurry
Actually, the skinsuit is more beneficial than the helmet, and cheaper. At 28mph, helmet is good for 3W, skinsuit is good for 10W.
Remember this?
Remember this?
I ripped this off of someone else who ripped it off of someone else who translated this month's issue of Tour magazine.
They put Uwe Peschel on a normal bike:
Needed Watts for Speed = 45 km/h :
Stevens San Remo bike with normal handlebar 465 Watts needed to go 45 km/h
Same bike Hands down the drops: 406 watts needed
Same bike Easton Aeroforce bar: 369 Watts
Same bike Triathlon position (5.5 cm lower bar, saddle forwards): 360 Watts
Same bike Triathlon position (5.5 cm lower bar, saddle forwards) and
carbon Tri spoke wheels front and rear: 345 Watt
Cervelo + Tri spoke front 328 Watts
Cervelo + Tri spoke front + disk rear wheel : 320
Cervelo + Tri spoke front + disk rear wheel +Giro helmet: 317
Cervelo + Tri spoke front + disk rear wheel +Giro helmet + speed suit: 307
Cervelo + Tri spoke front + disk rear wheel +Giro helmet + speed suit +
saddle 3 cm further back: 293 Watts
From 465 to 293 watts... That's a lotta savings.

You can't cat down to 5 from 4 Not that you'd even want to for TTs. Often times the top couple guys in the 5s are as fast or faster than the 4s, and sometimes the 3s, 2s and 1s. Pro/semi pro triathletes tend to be pretty fast on the TT bike.

I think you're into something with the Dr. Ferrari thing. From your posts im also getting the impression you may have slightly low Test levels, may want to get that checked and get a script

Suicide? Just CAT back up for the road races and crits after you dominate the time trials. Your only concern would be when you blow by the 5's during the TT. If you ring your bell they will move out of the way. I know I would.
