Did TT, it was painful, it was tons of fun. I didn't realize I could maintain that kind of power for so long. Usually I have a pita of a time doing endurance intervals. Tomorrow a crit. Should be oodles of fun also. Now if only I could actually download the data on to my computer.

Walkersville Mas 35+ 4/5

I came, I rode, I sucked.

My 2 teammates fared much better. So did NomadVW.

Take out Ramsburger Road and my porcine like physique is not a negative factor. I got dropped on the last hill at the barn. I had sight of the peloton all the way to the start finish. But i couldnt close the gap. From there on it was just a Tempo workout for the rest of the race. I picked up some stragglers here and there and shared to load when I can.

The attrition rate was VERY HIGH. The race started with 75. My teammate who finished top 10 said there was maybe 30 guys left at the end.

I was not first off, so did not finish DFL. I also did not DNF either. So good for me!

Even though i got dropped on that bastage of a hilly road, I know why I got dropped on it.

To fracking heavy.

I working on it. I've actually dropped about 20 since January and can drop another 25 before Murad.

Everything else in between now and then is circuits and crits. My extra poundage is less of a factor in those.

Nothing terribly exciting. Forecast was for rain for the 9 am crit. Woke up, wet but not raining. Checked the radar and it looked like it had passed over. Did the 4/5 race & got 6th (was hoping for better). Some newbie took a guy out in a crash after veering wide while trying to look behind him. He was pretty sketchy last week too. Did the 3/4 race right afterwards and for the 3rd week in a row I didn't quite have enough left to hang, so I let my self get lapped and was then able to finish with the pack. There were only 25 racers so not much of a pack to hide in for recovery. It's tough keeping up with them young whippersnappers !

I'm betting nomad won today. his race finished with 2 guys up the road taking 1st and 2nd (my team mate got second), then another team mate took 3rd by winning the field sprint.

Me: I did the 30/40+, got in a 5 man break with about 20 mi. to go, it was a good move, I was strong, but the field decided we werent going to survive to the finish. We got swarmed at 500M, sucks. I just maintained position to keep from getting in the way, got bounced around like a pinball, and finished somewhere in the pack.

Met new guy, was good to put a face on a screen name.

The guy who won was a Kelly guy. I went to high school with him back in the day. He's one of the owners of Race Pace Bicycles.

You ride with All American? Nomad was telling me they and the Kelly guys were doing a good job out there.

No win for me today. It's a shame I didn't get stronger guys with me in my break. I had a Latitude and All American guy, but the All American guy just couldn't hold on.

Ah well.. 46 minutes off the front, pnorm 357. I didn't expect to be off the front on the first lap, but you play the cards dealt. Fun, fun race. Good job to the All American guys and Kelly guys. Too bad more guys didn't want to chase. I shoulda taken less recovery and jumped the gap to the 2 guys earlier. Oh well.

Edited - hate to had.

I just read your report nomad. Im glad you had a fun race. A few more races in this area and I think you will have it figure out enough to do as you please. I cant remember how many AA rider were in your race but I know at least two of them are very strong and very smart. I am glad someone else noticed it!

bob got 2nd, ron took 3rd. both are excellent racers. I cant believe either of them were being shelled on a climb, but sounds like Nomad was laying down the law.

Nomad - sounds like you had a great ride, I wish I had your solo OTF ability.

How one of them has escaped a forced upgrade to Cat 3 is a mystery to me (if its the one im thinking of).

Neither of those guys raced 4s enough last year to get points towards 3. They arent sandbaggers dont worry. They are trying to get point to upgrade to 3 as soon as they can.

I cant believe either of those guys were getting dropped either. Those dudes kill it on the climbs.

I better take advantage of every 4 race they do from now on because it sounds like I am going to get lonely fast.

It was nice to meet you. You guy were dangling out in front of us for quite a while and we just didn't seem interested in chasing til the last few miles when we ramped up.

I ended up getting 7th in the 30+... 21st overall; nice to have so many 40+ guys finishing in front of me

Well.. apparently I didn't even race Walkersville yesterday, contrary to what my legs told me. No show on the results at all. Emailed them, we'll see - but I'm not hopeful.
