The RR uses the Sisquoc road course.

The crit is a flat with 2 corners and a long sweeping u-turn. Its in Isla Vista, right adjacent to the UCSB campus. Be sure to stick around for the cruiser crit.

Depending on how well i do tomorrow at Irvine, UCSB might be my first race weekend as an A. The pressures on.

esammuli 04-05-08 07:00 PM

Did you race today?

joecool2727 04-05-08 07:07 PM

Did I? No, no TT for me, right now im just trying to get points to upgrade to an A, so I'm takin today off so i feel good for both crits tomorrow.

esammuli 04-05-08 07:17 PM

You missed a great TT today (race report coming). Good luck tomorrow.

joecool2727 04-07-08 10:35 AM

umd 04-07-08 11:40 AM

I'll be in the 4/5s in IV

joecool2727 04-07-08 12:06 PM

Ya i'll be doin the 4/5's also

esammuli 04-07-08 12:09 PM

I won't be going to UCSB, I'm doing Madera instead.

jmechy 04-07-08 11:21 PM

The crit is going to be amazing, and even more epic then last year.

I'm going to be doing the 4/5's crit in the morning, Mens B, and possibly the cruiser crit. And working.

Are there gonna be primes in the 4/5's and do you have any ideas as to what they are? I won some money and prizes last weekend at Redlands and loved the feeling of getting free stuff just for racing.

actually i'm not sure, i'll try and remember to ask at the meeting tomorrow night. Congrats on your win at Redlands. I assume since you are doing the 4/5 field that you aren't going to be racing the crit as an A?

joecool2727 04-09-08 01:02 AM

Ha i definately would not consider myself a winner at Redlands. I did win every prime lap which included $50 but on the last prime i tried to go solo for the last couple laps until the end, i stayed off the front for a good while but was caught with about 200m to go and got 7th :( still was a blast though. ya i'll be racing B's again for one more weekend.

I don't think they're allowed to give primes to Cat 5s. I don't know about mixed races though.

Well i know that there is prize money for people who place, but im not sure there are primes, although there might be since its mixed like you mentioned.

And if i remember the CBR Dash for Cash Criterium had a $10 prime lap every lap even for the Cat5's, but then again that is run by CBR which could run its own rules i suppose?

jmechy 04-10-08 01:56 PM

Of course I totally forgot to ask last night about the primes in the 4/5 race.

umd 04-10-08 02:01 PM

CBR has its own rules. That said, the 4/5 crit in Hanford had primes and that was USCF.

joecool2727 04-10-08 05:14 PM

Whatever, primes are always so much better anyway when you have no clue what you're sprinting for, like balls to the wall and then you find out you won a pair of socks.

merckx89 04-10-08 06:56 PM

4/5 races will almost always have primes if it's a big enough race. 5's Races can't have them, but CBR does it anyways sometimtes.

jmechy 04-10-08 11:44 PM

Apparently primes goodies were picked up today. They include various things that are "better than socks". I believe there will be quite a few gift certificates. I don't know about you, but I'll sprint for a free pita.

kuf 04-11-08 08:27 PM

cat 4/5 DNF. 25.96 MPH brutal!

umd 04-12-08 03:19 PM

That sucked. I'm dissapointed with my performance, but take solace in that many, many dropped out before me and I almost made it to the end before getting pulled. It was one of the faster races of the morning, and the surging in & out of the first corner is what did me in. I tried to move up and when I was mid-pack the corners were a lot easier but I kept getting pushed back and didn't have the energy to stay up there. The fastest lap was 28.6mph.
