Vandervorts Corner RR

Cat 4 / 6 laps of 8 miles.

My 20 min warmup before race sucked. Legs were lethargic, had hard time getting into it.

Met fellow poster smoke minutes before race. Always tough meeting someone for the first time in the peleton. We'll race again hopefully soon.

First lap, some attacks, I get in one, were reeled back. My legs are bored and not warmed up.

Second lap my legs show up and an attack of about 6 goes out about 300 yards. I have teamate in it who is capable and a friend on rival team in it as well. There are 2 guys trying to bridge about 150 yards out. Thinking my teamate could use secondary representation in the break I roll the dice and attack, making positively sure to get a clean gap. I do and get their wheel, soon after we bridge the main break. Immediately we start a rotating paceline for the next 1-1/2 hrs. Our gap is over a minute later in race.

There is a short hill approx 250 - 300 yards and 6-7 percent. We use to shag off guys in group with surprising success. Unfortunately my teamate was one. Sixth and final lap were down to 7 of us, 6 that are actually taking pulls. I complain to my friend on other rival team his teamate needs to work or f-off the back. I'm re-assured he has no legs left.

Final sprint young kid goes at 500 yards. Unfortunately I had a 200 yard sprint in my legs - they doth protest and cramp. Took 5th and my friend won. Maybe next week.

Thanks for the report. I can feel it in my legs. Good race!

Congrats on racing and being a factor.

As your break passed me, you all were doing a great rotation. By the time the rest of the group passed me, they were totally disinterested.

Nice job!

Should've seen 5 dudes from Texas Roadhouse pass us like a bullet train. Same team, same break. Scary

When you have Kirk Albers as the engine, there's no stopping it.

Nice job Bill.

National champ Paul Martin was racing as well. As the lead group of 1's passed me (what group didn't pass me?), I thought "oh that's cute a stars and stripes jersey". Then I realized who it was.

Congratulations on getting into the winning move. That makes for a great race whether you take 5th or 1st.
