Jim Smart's a bad bad man

The Tallahassee Crit - hilly and painful.
The Quincy Road Race - Not bad until you got to the last hill at the end which just seemed to drag on and got steeper at the last 1/3rd.

Jim Smart, you're a bad bad man. Thank you for putting me in pain this weekend.

That road race course was really good. Nice roads and some good up and down to the profile and none of the go to the bottom of the hill and make a right turn at 40 spots that like to take out big chunks of a field.

There aren't too many races around here that you need a small ring. Yesterday you did.

The crit course was really scary. In dry conditions the term "highly technical" would be a slight understatement. In the rain, it was outright DANGEROUS and UNSAFE.

It might have seemed like a really cool idea to put a screaming downhill off-camber 90 degree turn on that crit course. But they should have been upfront about it.

There's no doubt in my mind that the race flyer's description of the course was part tongue-in-cheek; almost like an inside joke. The flyer describes the substantial hills as "gradual climbs", and doesn't even mention the two steep, downhill, corners. The flyer also had the (standard) provision: "Races run, rain or shine", but that implies that the course can actually be raced in the rain. This one simply wasn't. It wasn't until several crashes in the Masters 45+ race, with massive abandons, then more crashes in the Masters 35+ race with more abandons (only 2 laps in, no-less) that the promoter realized how stupid the course was, and only then called it a day.

Meanwhile, my teammates and I drove 5 hours one-way to attend that fiasco.

Whoa, let's back off bashing Jim. My post was intended to be more tongue in cheek than anything.

Personally, since I raced the course in the dry, I found it to be quite challenging. I'll agree about it being scary in the rain though...

You needed a samll ring! In Fl! In that race! You need training. I was there and never had to use my small ring. Problem was, I had my gears blocked out (im a junior) so I was getting dropped on the descents, but then I realised Im god and came flying past the group on the hills. jk

Funny, you must've been so fast I never even saw you attack for your winning break.

Yea. I was tired from doing 2 daces the day before and the juniors (4th) that day so I only won by 15 mins. No, on the last climb I was about to attack but I got boxed in by two *sshole riders and had to slam on the brakes and, well that ruined my chances. I tink one of the riders came17th. (lol) i still managed to pass like 5 guys to get 14th.

You've got all the makings of a classic BF "personality". Keep doing what you're doing kid.

Roughly 60 feet per lap. Not a mountain, but not too shabby either.

Looks like a fun course. Pensacola to Duvall corner (assuming clockwise) looks like a cute crashfest.

Pensacola to Duvall was a breeze (really wide) compared to Duvall onto Call. Steep downhill into the corner, or as Bobby Lex says, " screaming downhill off-camber 90 degree turn."

Yea, i was riding demo 404s so didnt want to crash them. I raced in the dry but i was still sliding out of the cornewrs, i lost traction like 5 times. lucky i didnt go down. it was the cats eyes that were in the best line for the corner. rear wheel goes over them at 27, wheel goes up, you keep turning, you almost go down.

Since he's a junior and apparently 15 or 16, I won't post his name on here. Botty (what the hell is a botty, anyway? Do you mean booty?), do you realize your name is also easily accessible from the race results? I have kids your age, only mine are smart enough to not be mouthing off to strangers who can find them at races. I hope they are, anyway.

Mouthing off? I wasnt meaning to offend. I put your position in there as an afterthought, I included the obligatory "lol".
As for my name being found on the website, I have nothing to hide. If a stranger wants to talk to me at a race thats fine with me. There's plenty of jibing occuring in these forums, sure you can take it the wrong way, but chances are, someone whos never met you in person probably isnt trying to actually make fun of you.

Haven't you figured it out yet? That's all we do around here. But you have to be funny. Just adding a "lol" to an unfunny post calling me an *sshole won't do.
/hijack

Ken, we sure managed to screw up your thread, didn't we?

What was this, a cat 4 race? You almost attacked, and then threw down for 14th? Whoa!

I'm impressed. You guys impressed? I mean, he didn't need the 39t at all!
