Anyone planning on doing this stage race? I wish they would update their site because it is fast approaching. The thing I wonder is how does an unattached rider compete in a TTT? I'm not unattached but may be the only one in my cat interested in going.

Often they will lump you with other attached riders and you make your own mini-team.

Yeah dude my team is fielding 4 guys in the P1/2/3 it should be fun.

I think most of the team are using it to get are legs ready for more important races later in the season like Fitchburg and Green Mountain.

Nothing else needs to be said. If you want further opinions on the Ga Cup races and how they are run just ask a team member thats been to one or do a Google search. I typed in "georgia cup races suck" and heres the first hit

http://hammerhead-scott.blogspot.com...ippi-gran.html

I have yet to read a positive review of any Ga cup race

Chattanooga was a very well run event in my opinion.

Hey wfrogge I've heard the same thing and that's why I was very disappointed that the folks that ran the Edgar Soto Memorial Stage Race backed out of it this year because the Georgia Cup Tour of Atlanta conflicted with the same time slot. Ed Soto was by far the very best run race I've ever had the pleasure taking part in. But from what I understand (someone correct me if I am wrong) some of the organizers from Ed Soto last year are helping out with the Tour of Atlanta. That could be a very good thing. We'll see.

Every GA cup race I did last year (Dahlonega and Savannah) were run awesomely, everything started on time results were posted quickly liquids prepared after the race. What were the specific problems you had wfrogge and what races were that at? Did you do any of the ga cup races last year?

Maybe they just needed a bit more experience and have gotten better. That's great! I've heard in the past that they were really bad with start times but I can't be specific to which race. Sure enough It's hard to put on the race and who knows about internet rumours, I'll go down and see for my self

I was a huge critic of ga cup races last year. They had a few issues at albany (not having prologue results up before the crit).

However, Chattanooga apparently was very well run. I will say that jlowe and team are getting their act together. We will see how cummings is run, but I am looking forward to the Tour of Atlanta.

You should ask them why the guy who was DFL in the Perry Roubaix Cat 4/5 35+ race got listed as KOM on that race.. And how come he was scored for 5 laps in a race that was only 4 laps long..

I've got really mixed feelings on the ToA and the rest of the Georgia Cup Races. When the Tour of Atlanta was announced, I set it as my main race of the 2008 season, and started training accordingly. When I did the Perry weekend, with the exception of the final KOM for the weekend, I thought the entire event was well run and organized.

But then between mid-March when they finally posted the KOM, and mid-April, they repeatedly yanked the chains of one of my friends on the Perry-Roubaix road race results..

At the very least they should take down the KOM results and put up a "we lost the data, we're not sure of who rightfully won KOM, sorry, mea culpa." But instead they decided to leave the bogus results up (while acknowledging in email that they know it's bogus). The last I heard from them on the subject was "we know it's wrong, but since it doesn't play into the overall standings we're not going to change it."

Say what??

So, do I want to give them a few hundred dollars of my money and spend five days in Atlanta? Or would I rather just go up to Dahlonega, ride the mountains for a few days, and then do the Gwinnett Bike Fest at the end of July??

It is all relative... I am with Recneps on this... if you are used to dealing with things like waiting for 3 hours for officials to finish results while they write it in pencil on scrap paper every weekend like we do in NC/SC you would think the GA cup stuff is great.
