Hi,

If you "cause" it, is it really an accident?

How about:

Don't put yourself in a position where you can cause a crash.

How bout if we start with the written rules, which is what I think the OP really wants to know.

1. The guy in front of you has the right of way, he can do whatever he wants, he can go all over the road (not that he SHOULD) so be ready for anything.
2. Don't use your brakes hard. You are almost always feathering the front but try not to slam it on hard.
3. There is no such thing as calling "inside" while going around a corner.
4. Pinning someone against the curb in the final straight is dirty pool, but if you are in front feel free to swing wide and use the whole road in the corner exit if you need to. If someone is outside of you and overlapping your wheel, too bad for him.
5. If you are about to die and the pack is strung out, tell the guys in back of you and raise your hand so they get around you before you open up a huge gap.

That is not what the OP asked.

+1

Also, I love when people move up the outside and point that their coming over, like on a group ride. I always respond, just cause your pointing doesn't mean I have to let you in.
