How to correct race results?

I did the blue hills classic and I am pretty sure that considering I was one of the first to get dropped and DNF, there is no way in hell I finished 21 out of 37. In general, how does one go about getting race results corrected?

the only results that count are in the points, or in the money. i'd let this one go.

USA Cycling has me finishing 10th and 27th in the same race (Perry Circuit race) I like the 10th place finish better.

And I know I'm walking right into the "He's so fat that... " jokes.

Minor hijack:

How long after USAC receives results until they get posted in the rankings?

You have 15 minutes to protest after the results are posted. Once they become official (i.e. posted on the web) you are SOL. However, just because you think you were DFL, doesn't mean you were... its not uncommon for people to get popped without you noticing, then when you get dropped you think you are last but in reality there were actually others behind. Or, maybe you were DFL and they just screwed up.

I remember getting dropped at the top of the climb(surprise, surprise) at SLR in '06 and thinking I was DFL. Turned out I was actually in the top 20. Unless you're constantly looking over your shoulder to see who's getting left behind, you'll never know.

DNF and DFL aren't the same thing. I would hope the OP knows if he DNF'd? Either way as others have stated it is really irrelevant about having it corrected...

I read it as DFL. oops. I've seen many races where people that didn't even show up were listed in the results.

In many races I don't think USA Cycling would ever know you finished in the pack if you're not in the top 5 or 10.

Depends on if their results person (they have one) is there. If not, it takes a while. She was out for a bit in April so there was a backlog. Otherwise it's a couple days. Normally it's the promoters at fault (I can say that, I'm one of them) for not sending in the results right away.

To answer the OP's question, once results are finalized (15 min after protest period), you cannot change them. Yes, the organizer can change them on their site, but USAC cannot. I'm still listed as getting 6th in a very, very hard road race, one I've never finished. 6th is in the money - the promoter sent me a check and a mug. I wrote a nice note thanking them and sent them back. Usually a lower ranking is not protested since there's no money.

It's possible that the promoter put you down as 21st because that really was your place. Perhaps the riders you beat dropped out first. I have been "placed" in races where I dropped out or got lapped, but the place represented my position pretty accurately. Kind of like F1 - you know, 18th place blew his engine after 10 minutes but the guys behind him didn't make the end of the first lap.

I'd just put an asterisk next to that result (and explain why) for any upgrade purposes if you really didn't beat 16 other racers. You seem like the honest type.

For future CAT upgrades the result may mean the difference between getting an upgrade or not. If the OP is a 4 it def will matter (20 finishes with the pack = upgrade). Given what the OP said about getting dropped the result wont matter though.....

Unfortunately, the 27th, of 31 is the accurate result.

Still much better than the millions who don't have the cajones to line up in the first place!

Me. Long term plan, I'll start doing just Masters 45 races, so my Cat won't matter, but I'd like to be able to say I'm a 3. I know it's stupidly vain.

actually, don't some master's events require one is a 3 to participate? Sill, the master's races are harder than 3 races, and way harder than the 4 races so be careful about biting off more than you really want to chew
