Another Race Report

First breakaway (with me as one of the 2-man) failed.

Front shifter cable broke, stuck in my 36.

Second breakaway got away, I was bridging up and got pissed off. Decided to pull the pack up to the breakaway - I wanted to see it reeled in. I failed.

Sprinting in the 36 was problematic. Threw the bike for 18th place out of 50.

How's this instead:

"I raced today.

So did Ryanf."

I would've thrown my bike into the bushes, but I don't have that kind of upper-body strength.

It really wasn't all that big of a deal... tried to shift, and something slapped my leg. "WTF?" The first time I didn't want the compact crank...

Sucks you had a mechanical, but you sprinted and executed a bike throw for 18th? Why? That's dangerous.

I tend to agree. Better to roll in the race and not try to kill yourself sprinting for 20thish place.

That said, finishing in your 36 is pretty bad ass. Just that I'd have avoided sprinting in that situation.

Let's do a post count and compare which of us that applies to.

Actually yesterday was his first race and he at least finished it:

I couldn't have planned that better.
all i had to do was look at the 1st page of results to see that his name came up in the posts i was quoting.

doubt you could claim the same thing.

btw - the fact that you have his blog address sums it up nicely.

If you saw my bike 'throw', you wouldn't be as concerned. And I was about 8 feet away from my away from any of my competitors. I have a picture of it but I don't want you piranhas mocking my throw.

The reason for sprinting was the same reason I worked to reel the breakaway in, rather than bridging up myself. I was pissed.
