I'm taking up ping pong. You guys are friggin animals, you're all from the other end of the gene pool from me, and I think maybe you're all on EPO.

But you're also all too fat for this sport, so that's some consolation.

I happened to be in your race and can definitely vouch for you riding like an animal. I don't remember exactly when you went off the front, but I do remember thinking, "He'll die in this wind." To say the least, I was wrong. Oh, and that means I'm going to try and follow you the next time you try to go up the road. Awesome race.

there's a good writeup about the course here. the wind was definitely a factor. 30mph 53x11 and then barely 20mph 53x21 on another section.

i just got my cat 4 upgrade a couple weeks ago. want to be cat3 by the end of the seasons. unfortunately this win didn't get me any points because it was abr. =P

Fully half of my 4-->3 points were from ABR. About 1/4 of my 3->2 upgrade points were from ABR.

The upgrade reps know the hard races around here. They'll accept results from both. A dude that solos away to win Monster's is doing pretty well, regardless of the race affiliation.

really? that's good news... did they just count the race as if it were uscf in terms of points?

oh, and congrats on your monsters performance as well. was wondering if you were out there. obviously don't know you personally, just saw the ABD riders.

Pretty much. And, I'm pretty sure there's some sort of reciprocity agreement between the two; if you get your 3's upgrade in ABR and have a mixture of ABR and USCF points to get your 3s upgrade in USCF, they'll almost certainly give it to you.

And yeah, Monsters was fun.

Wow, it's awesome to see some strong numbers combined with results in competition!

Do you mind me asking your weight?

Wow, 400 watts for 7.5 minutes. My dial doesn't go that high.

ah, forgot that critical piece of info in my original post. brings the numbers back to earth with some perspective. i usually weigh in around 183-185, so 83.9kg

400/83.9 = 4.77 w/kg
340/83.9 = 4.05 w/kg

Very nice work. You've got the tools and you're learning how to use them. Get up to 3s as fast as you can with a good team, keep getting stronger, and keep learning

hmmm the addition of the weight to the equation still makes me shudder... i weigh that much and am a 4... my power is nowhere near those levels and either are my results! great job, those numbers look like strong 3 numbers to me...

I'm not trying to be an ass (even though I probably am) but how do you get a VI of 1 on a windy day in a crit. Unless it was on a banked track and you never had to slow down. Regardless, 400W for 7 minutes under any conditions is awesome and congrats on the TT.

VI is just NP/AP, so the 1 value for my breakaway means i kept a constant effort for that seven and a half minutes. my VI for the entire race was 1.23 (324/264)
