Race Report (May 21st) with bonus material.

I raced last night.

Niki Terpstra was there.

So was Steven Rooks.

Plus a bunch of other guys.

Other than an impressive demonstration by Terpstra, it was a boring race.

That is all.

epilogue

Racing the night before a planned 5.5 hour ride shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Unless your post race meal consists of 4 pints, a packet of crisps, and sitting in a smoky pub, shouting at football match being played in Moscow.

Fortunately my training partners took pity on me for the first 2 hours.

shock, horror, the road actually bends.

contemporary dutch landscape.

Although I really liked the reverence given to the bike by the Dutch (and the chant the have at football matches against German clubs; "Give us back our bikes") the riding is fantastically boring until you get nearer the Belgian border.

I take it you've returned to civilization?

no arguments here.

the route of todays ride has to be one of the most monotonous rides ever.

I know we approach these race reports from opposite ends of the spectrum, but this does not constitute a race report, even for you. How'd you do? Did you kick that skinny Dutch kid's ass?

It's cool that they watch football out there and all... but do they know it's not actually in season? Are they watching reruns like on FEN?

i took it for a test.

he took off from the back, and one guy was able to grab his wheel. i was part of a group that tried to bridge.

they were off the front for a few laps, i doubt the other guy did any work. everything became 'gruppo compatto', and he just hung out in the pack.
