The biggest problem when you hit some form is...

You're no longer particularly tired, or hungry for that matter, after a 5:40 ride.

Maybe it's just me, but I kind of enjoy overindulging the eating and lounging after a long day in the saddle.

Time to HTFU?

Discuss...

Eat less during your ride and you'll be both tired and hungry afterward. Problem solved, no HTFU required.

Go faster. I can bury myself in 45 minutes if I feel like it. Let alone 5:40.

There's nothing incorrect about my previous post.

Start racing in charity rides... Win some charity rides... Then let's talk about "form".

Meh. I've done a ton of rides longer than 5 minutes and 40 seconds without feeling particularly tired or hungry afterwards. I've never had the form to ride over 5 hours without feeling beat to death.

I've never had this problem you speak of. I'm tired and hungry just from putting on my kit.

I need to sleep and eat more.

I would just love to have 5 hours to spend in the saddle. Trying to find that block of time would lead me to be both hungry and tired.

What if you race and drop everyone on the MUP? Does that count?

THAT looks like fun!

I did a 9 hour ride recently. I had to put my SLR saddle in mothballs after that.

How's this for an eating disorder: I bonked today, and in recovery, I'm taking in as many calories as I can, but I walk past the Coke machine because I don't want to risk gaining any weight. Yeah, the Coke will do it . I just ate 6 pieces of pizza, 14 Oreos, and an Apple, and I'm worried about a Coke?

The bonk came seemingly out of nowhere (no bonks since Feb or so, had a great breakfast, a snack 1h before the ride, duration was only 1:20, etc.).

<grumble>

Yeah, so I just went and grabbed a Coke too

Did a solo 5.5 hrs a couple of weeks ago during which
my derailler hanger loosened 60 miles into it and legs protested the last 40
So when I got home
tired-check
hungry-check
pissed at legs and bike-check

basically too many 40-50 mile bombfests and not enough long 80-100 mile stuff.

I've been getting up real early all week to train before work. Plus, I've been training someone at work so I haven't snacked like I normally do (all day). Today my urge to indulge was so powerful I couldn't ignore it.
Hopefully, most of this will go to replenishing my muscles and such.

+1 (and I did read the rebuttal)

"Form" is fleeting. It is like the baseball player that gets on a "hot" streak. Sooner or later comes the "slump".
