Yeah, fair enough. When I started the other thread it was a completely unsubstantiated rumor and I didn't want to blast BOONEN A COKEHEAD all over the forum until I knew it was true.

Tour of Switzerland organizers, however, quickly reacted by banning Boonen from their race and demanding an explanation from his team.
What kind of explanation can QSI possibly give? *smacks forehead*

Thirty years ago, sure. Somehow I think that now in the days of designer EPO, testosterone micro-dosing, slickly done homologous blood transfusions and other sneaky ways around the doping controls that using something easily detectable, and with many negative side effects like cocaine for a PED, especially for someone of Boonen's stature, is highly improbable.

Do us all a favor and snort half a gram before your next bike race. If it doesn't kill you, come back here and let us know how much it helped you. If it kills you, we told you so.
Of course, leave us a note so we know where to find that other half-gram.

patentcad, get your hand off your pud. Cocaine is performance enhancing, end of story. Whether or not it is easily detectable or the best option to dope with is irrelevant. Drugs like amphetimines and coke are generally out of the system in a few days. Riders still take drugs like amphetimines in training (coke has similar 'benefits') and smaller races where testing is unlikely and always will. There are plenty of stories (either reported in the media or rumour) doing the rounds of pros on coke binges or taking pot belge with god knows what in it.
BTW, I'm on coke now and I feel like king kong. I might go for a ride.

2.) If you really believe this, you're dumber than your posts make you sound, which is impressive all things considered. Coke would enhance performance in competitive beer drinking. Perhaps that's your personal experience with competitive sports. If so, this all makes sense.

Go and look up 'Pot Belge' and to see what crap it usually contains.

From VeloNews.com:
While the Tour of Switzerland decision reflects that of an individual organizer, Boonen will not face the full force of UCI or WADA sanctions in the case.
"A suspension is foreseen when controls took place during competition but it's not the case in this affair," said Tieneke Sonck, a spokesman for the Regional Sports Minster .
That position was confirmed by WADA spokesman Frédéric Donze, who told VeloNews that cocaine is among a class of stimulants whose use is banned only in competition.
"If you look at the 2008 WADA Prohibited List, you will find a category named 'Substances and Methods Prohibited In-Competition' (i.e. only in-competition)," he wrote. "Cocaine is in section S. 6 Stimulants. Therefore, cocaine is not prohibited when detected out-of-competition."

Wait, I missed what the big deal is. Who the f*ck would do coke on purpose to win a bike race? That's preposterous. You gonna stop every 25 minutes during the race and do another line?
