No Flaming, but what is Ant +???
I've been to the Quarq website but the whole thing seems shrouded in ambiguity. What the heck is it? How does it function, as compared to powertap or SRM or Polar or iBike?

By magic, you mean averages based on pretty well known mathematical calculations. See also: Kreuzotter
Remember: It's relative performance that matters, all the rest is moot.

Relative performance may matter for one on their own, but if you are trying to reach a standard in your training, like watts/kg, then you are going to want to know an absolute number. You will want an accurate power meter. The IBike certainly ain't one!
When I see an IBike on the bike of a top pro I might reconsider

Let's not restart the iBike threads and say we did. It's all in the archives. Search, people.
To try and be helpful, Ant+ is a wireless transmission protocol. It has nothing to do with how power (or cadence, or heartrate, or speed) is calculated, but in how it's sent from the sensor on your bike to the computer on your bars. If a device is not just Ant+, but has the additional designation "Ant+Sport," then it will inter-operate with other "Ant+Sport" devices. So your SRM powermeter, your iBike speed sensor and your PT heartrate strap will all talk to the Garmin on your bars. Or whatever combo you run. Supposedly it also works better than most of the old proprietary wireless devices, so fewer dropouts, better transmission range, etc.

A power meter's numbers are relatively moot until compared against multiple data sets and then it's how you use it that matters.
