Versus & Rock Racing

Anyone else watching Versus coverage of philly right now? I think I have watched more Rock Racing commercials, ads, behind the scenes clips then actual coverage of the race itself..... is it just me?

Don't knock them. I don't see any other team sponsors helping to televise domestic cycling. Maybe it's just me but I actually like the fact that they're showing local pros on television.

I don't mind the constant commercials (I tivo'ed it and just fast forward through them and someone has to pay for it), but that stupid Rock Racing insignia screen block thing they did before they cut to the helicopter shot made me so irritated I almost stopped watching... Christ every time someone attacked the action was blocked by that f#*%ing BS, and by the time the aerial shot was finally shown, the pivotal moment was over. If they are after negative publicity they are winning me over. No such thing as negative publicity I guess, but damn it, that totally ruined much of the coverage.

I don't know who the commentators were, but they accomplished something I would have said was impossible - they actually made me miss Phil and Paul!

I thought the commentary was terrible. When they would switch to the overhead helicopter view I kept thinking all I see are the tops of trees, put me back on the ground where there is some action.

I wonder if David Millar is happy with the takebackthetour commercials. They show him at the end of the other disgraced riders.

I found it interesting one of the team members of RR said something to the effect that they expect the 'Brand' to take off.

I said the same thing.

Typical exchange...

Woman- "Looks like they are pedalling, someone on High Road is movi... OH LOOK A ROCK RACING TEAM MEMBER... I think they are going to be planning something..."
Man- "The riders are forming for the sprint."
Woman- "This cat an mouse game is very exciting."

I didn't like that commercial at all.

I have to admit, I liked watching the climbs up Lemon Hill. We had to run intervals up that damn hill in college - would hate to have to ride it.

Sounded like John Eustice and Jessica(?) Grieco(?). Both were bumbling a lot making me suspect there was a gas leak near their studio or something.

Fortunately, I got my very first DVR (Tivo HD) last Friday. The first thing I did was crack it open and put in a 1 tb hard drive.

There was one exchange of conversations about buying beer for a rider. Something like "give that man a beer, someone needs to give him a beer!"

...at that point I almost went to the store and bought beer in hopes of forgetting that comment

Rock Racing sponsors the race, they get to show all the commercials they want. You write the check, you play by your rules.

Which got stuck in the middle of the men's race. The whole broadcast looked like it was produced by a junior college mass.comm. department. Unwatchable.
