getting back into shape
I have been out of riding for a little over a month now, due to being sick for a week(not even being able to walk). I went to the doctor and had an emergency appendectomy. That put me out for about six weeks. Today the good news is that I got a new bike. A caad9 5. But down to business. I went out on a medium paced ride and felt really good until I got to one of the climbs. Climbs in central Indiana tend to be not very long but very steep. I usually fly up this hill but I could not get my legs to get me up. What is the quickest way to get the climbing legs back in shape? This is quite disappointing because I was planning on doing my first race this fall, but now I will probably be waiting until next spring. Thanks in advance.

You should fly up that hill, after all, when they took the appendix you lost some weight. Think positive.
