Packing for BRAG ride

I am doing BRAG this year, and have never had to carry my stuff on one of these long rides (my wife drove along when I did RAGBRAI). Should I add panniers and carry some of my stuff - tent, bag pad, etc? I have read the BRAG suggestions for packing, but would like to hear from some veteran BRAGers.

THANKS!

Glad to have you aboard. I am a 15 year veteran of BRAG and I'll be glad to help you anyway I can.

Are you famaliar with the BRAG tractor trailers that transport your gear from site to site? That service is included in the price for the ride.
There are also private vendors who will deliver your gear to the overnight stay or a motel of choice, for a fee of course.

A few folks travel the route fully loaded but that is by choice not necessity. If you choose to let BRAG transport your gear you may want a large seat bag or a handle bar bag for your bike to keep essentials with you, ie. camera, sunscreen, drugs (RX), wallet, sandles, etc. The trucks work well but have a few disadvantages - must load by 8:00 AM, first riders in unload the trailers, everything must be in waterproof bags, finding your bag out of >1000 can be a challenge.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Blake

Good for you on both counts, Sam. I'll look forward to seeing you on BRAG if not before.
