Where do you put your keys when you race?

Racing with keys in your back pocket seems dangerous...

Just a key. Not a set.
And only when the area doesn't look pleasant. Otherwise I hide it ... and I ain't tellin' where. So na na na.

Yet people seem to ride every day with them (and cartridges of highly pressurized CO2) in their pockets every day without serious harm. Go figure. I think it poses a minimal increase in risk of injuring yourself in a crash.

Under rear car wheel. Probably not the smartest or the safest option, but my car is a POS, so if someone wants to go through the trouble of stealing it, be my guest.

My wife asked me the same question last night. Do you have microphones in our house?

+1. Falling on one key laying flat in a pocket would not be much of a problem.

Falling on a big ring of keys sticking up in random directions could be unpleasant.

The missus, if she's there. A friend or teammate who looks like they're camping out for the race (chair, cooler, etc). Toss by the official's stand. Or I just carry them (and yes, I have a bundle of keys).

I've rarely hidden them on the car but places include inside the wheel tray if it's up high, on top of a tire, inside a non-locking gas hatch thing, inside bumper edge, single key inside roof rack bar (lots of places for a thin low tech key).

In the gas cap cover compartment, hoping someone steals it. I have driven my wife's handmedown POS vehicle for the last 5 years.

Good lord, don't we have enough to worry about? Sit in or attack? Is that guy strong enough to get away? Do I eat a gel now or wait? Did I drink enough water? Do I have to go pee now? What's that ticking sound? Did I pin my number on the correct side?

Under the front floormat. I figure everyone there is racing or watching so the chance of theft is zilch (or close to it). Plus that's what insurance is for.

On the passenger seat, center compartment, or in the visor.

Usually the passenger seat. Someone would be doing themselves a discredit to steal my car anyway.
