So is this what botto means when he tells me my shorts look like knickers? If this is how he and the Euros wear them, I'll keep my American style thank you.

3 things:
-Specialized shortened a bunch of their TT helmets, while Giro made a bunch of theirs longer.
-Dominique Cornu is using a new Ghibli Ultra disc wheel. Does it take 10 cogs yet? Does it take 11? Is it lighter? Does anyone care?
-Levi is using Dura-Ace rings. They must be faster, all Sram users must go out and purchase new rings from Shimano. Campagnolo users will continue to start threads bashing Shimano and Sram.

I think the reason shorts have gotten longer is to compress and support the muscles - particularly the 'belly' of the quads (where the muscle attaches at the knee and there is a lot of stress).

And track sprinters still use square taper and octalink, so much for the stiffness theory of outboard bearing cranksets. You also won't see Zipps on many shorter track events below 4k. Square taper is still my most preferred bottom bracket style, though the Ultegra outboard BB on my main road bike is pretty awesome too.

Campagnolo 10 speed spline will accept 11 speed.

The tan line is supposedly the short-short of Euro-styling, not that high, and that's what I rock too. The American style is just too lame, it makes you look short.

Until someone besides Sram makes one that will keep a straight chainline.

I hope you're joking.

Thanks for that bidtit. I'll make sure to model myself after you.

True, but my context of the Ghibli is that they only accept 9 cogs.

Why do you hate short people?

Learn to read. I said below 4k, nobody uses Zipps in the sprint, Keirin, or the pursuit. It's Mavic Comete and IO all the way (save for the special wheels possibly designed by the BAE for the British team). Is there a reason why? I don't know. Mavic sponsor maybe?

Canned the sarcasm. Neither is better than the other, they work, and that's enough. If track sprinters can crank out 2300 watts on square taper and octalink, you have to be at least suspicious of the so called "perceived" stiffness of outboard bearing cranksets.

One thing going for the outboard design is the lighter weight for the same amount of stiffness, and also, much easier installation. It's kind of hard to really screw up installing a Shimano Hollowtech II crankset or Campagnolo's Ultra-Torque.

Have you considered they redesigned the spline to accept 10 cogs, which also happens to work with 11?

True. BUT having the added width of outboard bearings would screw up the chainline, and the position of lots of track riders who like their narrow cranks. But what's the use for Shimano to make a Hollowtech 2 track crank if it'll require a new track stardard (which is unfathomably hard to do) and only 3000 people will buy it?

Have you considered reading my original post that was implying this very thing?

Actually, the belly of the muscle is the middle of it, not at the attachment point.

There is a lot of stress at the muscle attachment, more so than at its origination point. Maybe that's why we wear knee warmers in winter.

Which means square taper and octalink works for them, is there really more to be said?

Since we have made this clear, do you really have to drag this on?

The average height of an American male is 175cm. The average height of the most influential people in your country is above 175cm. Even if you bashed short people, you are still safe, despite being labeled a bigot.

1.) I luvs me some man-leg. Sexist much? Sure, why not?

2.) I prefer my shorts short. Unless it's cold, then everything gets covered.

3.) That photo looks like it's been P-Shopped.

So what's the point? (Sorry, I don't have Pcad's memory.) Short =good?

I'm not a doc, but I tore my acl a few years ago and had to have my knee rebuilt. The PT kept referring to the rounded part of the muscle where it attached to the knee the belly - that's where I got if from anyway. Anyway, it sounds like mean the same thing - that area of the knee/muscles/tendons needs to be supported and that might be one reason shorts have gotten longer.

The guy in the OP has pushed his skinsuit legs up (you can see the folds). Maybe it was too loose (new skinsuit?) or was rubbing wrong somewhere? He might have gotten to the line in a hurry after a massage (misjudged start time).

Shorts have gotten longer in the US? My longest (and newest) bibs leave 8.5" of thigh showing:

My theory is that knicks have gotten longer because it provides more space for advertising. Nothing more, nothing less. When they were just black they were all a little shorter than they are now. The rider in the original picture does look to me like he had them rolled up because the logo is almost cut off.

Oh yeah, as a short legged guy I do prefer shorter knicks when I can find them because the current length looks stupid on me.

Regards, Anthony

I'd imagine that he probably needs a custom TT bike. How tall is Dominique Cornu?

Anyone ever look at the length of shorts from way back in the day? About that short. Shorts today are too long for my tree stumps, not that I'd want them close to that short.

Having said that, the hot women get a double standard.
