Grabsch has always been a player in the ITT. Some key players stepped out and he stepped up.

Good deal for DaveZ.

I had the universalsports.com coverage on in the background at work. Robbie wasn't pulling punches on evaluating some of the guys positions/setups. Heard him comment once "That guy isn't concerned about winning, he's wearing a watch and a yellow bracelet"

I like the photos of Grabsch on the podium. It's cool to see someone who is truly exhilarated at winning even at that level.

I have never been able to figure out why someone would wear a watch in a bike race unless they are sponsored by the maker. When Hasselbacher won his stage this year in the Tour of Austria, he had 5 pounds of titanium links holding a watch around his wrist. I hope he got paid for that.

Wow, I didn't think Svein had this high of a result in him. Too bad he flatted - he might have had a chance for the win:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2008...ults/worlds083

For second-placed Tuft, the time trial was far and away the biggest success of his career. The five-time Canadian champion said, "It went really well. I knew this morning I was on a good day. I gave it all I had."

He might have been able to finish even higher, if it hadn't been for a mechanical. " About six kilometres out, I had a front flat and had to change a bike. It gave me enough of a scare to finish the finale as hard as I could. "
