Saved by the Bell?

So I was just killing time and looking at where I was on the USA cycling ranking page (admit it, we've all done it, even though it's utterly meaningless). I'm sitting 318th in the country in Cat 2 crit rankings (impressed yet?). Anyway, the point of this post is, just above my name in 314th was "Mark-Paul Gosselaar." Now that seemed like a very familiar name and I realized after a second it was the name of the dude who played Zack on Saved by the Bell. Wikipedia confirms that it is indeed the same person - I mean how many people in the country could even have a first name like Mark-Paul, complete with hyphen. Let alone the last name. So anyway, I am only a tiny bit worse at crits than Zack from SbtB who is apparently an avid road and track cyclist. I wonder how I'd stack up against A.C. Slater...?

Damn talented people. Can't they let us normal people be good at one thing?

Wait, didn't he die???

Or am I imagining some other '80's teen comedy-drama who was in a coma for a while before dying?

omg we ride the same saddle my childhood hero :swoon:

AC Slater rides mountain bikes, bein' all like, "Hey Preppie, shaving your legs again?" while putting his arm around Jessie Spanner. "Let's hit the trails, hot Mamma!" "Pig!" she responds.

Meanwhile Lisa's designing a new kit, Kelly's in the feedzone, and Screetch is inventing his own electronic gruppo...

He started racing the track out here a few years ago-- he's pretty low key about it (as are the announcers) and is just another rider (but a pretty good one) when he rides. I didn't even know we had an actor that big showing up until I read about it somewhere else.

It's a little surprising that his contracts let him race mass start events-- I've heard of other people who are restricted to triathlons and other non-drafting type events to reduce their chances of crashing.

he went down a different path. bankruptcy, lawsuits, and a sex tape filled up most of his time in the past few years. no time to train for bike racing.

Man, his track skinsuit looks really loose.

That's as far as my interest in this topic goes, though I'll admit I read the Pez article a while back.

Yeah, I never watched SBtB. I just remember him roughing up mopes in the pokey.

I would expect him to race with his elbows flying based on that character.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and chalk that one up to the fact that he's an ACTor

Yeah, but to go from Zach to playing a gay porn star. Pretty extreme to avoid being type-cast.

That's the point.

I'm in the top ten or twenty in most age group stuff. Guys who I've beaten in every race are ahead of me (I just looked BTW). Who knows how they figure this stuff out.
