Deep rims?
 

I thought this would be the best forum to ask this. Whats the advantage and intended use of a deep rim,, looking at some 30mm rims. Most of my ridding is alone on the road all summer and doing centuries with the club. Would it be a foolish investment in my ride? This set is only 1500 grams., Velomax Tempest II.Im ridding on Kyrsium Elites now,, I think they are close to 1800 grams. But aside from the wieght difference what else can be expected? Thanks............

I don't think that you'll notice the benefits with anything less than 40 mm.

I'm going to agree with karesz3 on this. If you are going to go deep dish you will only notice a difference as with most everything else when the change is big. I would say 40-50mm would be a good range with reasonable results. Watch out for those x winds though. It's like a parachute on your wheel.

American Classics had some wheels going...1340 g for under $600 somewhere on the internet. They were 34mm I believe.

I actually use the American Classic CR420 rims with bladed spokes. I love these wheels, and I think they are faster than Ksyriums are, but the biggest benefit comes from the lower spoke count. Since bladed spokes are stronger (higher tension) I'm able to run a 16/20 configureation, so this maybe where the biggest aero difference is. Other than that, they look great, and I highly recommend them.
