I got it the same from the Carmichael training site. It also said that he has lots of obligations that were made prior to coming back. So he is traveling, making speaking engagements and appearances.

Making a kilometer blurry
CTS training email. He's been at 20-24 hrs/week in October.
Nothing wrong with some short recovery sprints.

Yah... Seems to me he's doing something a lot more like what I do, except for the wattage numbers.
Lots and lots of time, threshold time, and a few max efforts in the middle of an easy day.
If anything, I was going to point at this and say that "even lance does 2x20's in base" Your point is lost.

The lumping together of the three of those crowds emphasizes not only the OPs, but the general populace's misunderstanding of how those philosophies differ.

Dude, I wish I was at 5.5! I'm at 4.7 right now.
If I have a post somewhere saying 5.5, lemme know so I can mod it?

There's no mention of what his endurance pace wattage is. So let's say his FTP is 400W. 85% of 400W = 340W. Fair enough, I've heard pros love romping around 350W.
Let's see, his total hours look something like:
10/11 + 6/8 = 16 - 19h/wk @ HIS endurance pace [340W]
1 hr of 400W avg [Tues night crit]
3 - 4h/wk of a ride that has 8 X 20s sprints of max effort.
What's the problem?
He's putting at LEAST 16 - 19h/wk of solid SST @ 340W AVERAGE. I'm sure he's not varying his cadence to make sure he's bang on @ 340W. People do 2X20's because we don't have 16-19h available to do sit in @ >= 85% FTP. Not to mention - not many of us are training for grand tours.

4.7 is outstanding as well and would suit you well here on the left coast in any masters race.
To the OP, my apologies for not picking up on the sarcasm. Tough to do sometimes with this kind of medium.
