Sex with Manzano

I want to talk about Jesus Manzano, but not about the doping allegations. I want to talk about why Manzano was fired from the Kelme team. He was cut loose for allegedly having sex while (not actually in the act of riding, although that would make for a better story!) racing in last year's Vuelta. I assume that this is a Kelme rule because they consider sex while racing (and perhaps while training???) to deter performance. So ...............

Do you think that having sex while racing hurts one's performance? Do you think that this offense justifies the release of a rider? If you think that sex hurt performance, please provide your reasons.

ThanX!!

Why am I having flashbacks to scenes from the movie 40 Days and 40 Nights?

Until 7-Eleven rode the tour in the 80's there were no women allowed around the riders at all. All the cooks, soigneurs, doctors etc. were always men. Back in Merckx day it was considerd bad luck to have them anywhere in the hotel. 7-Eleven had a couple of women massage therapists, and it caused quite an ordeal with the Old Guard

Im glad Jesus talked about how the Actovegin was used, some of you may remember that U.S. Postal was filmed throwing away empty packages of Actovegin in the 2000 TdF. It wasn't banned at the time, so therefore I guess It technically wasnt cheating. The UCI added the General Blood manipulation language to cover drugs and methods without having a loophole like Postal used.

I believe Jesus is telling the truth. Remember he's not just saying "everyone is doping", He's explaining how it all works, and how easy it is to get past the tests. Surely he can't be the only one to figure this all out.

I have trouble believing he was dumped for sex/girl in the room. It might have been the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. Just general disobedience. And how ironic is that? You can dose up and do all sorts of f/uped things to your body with pharmacuticals, but sex? NO SIR!

Is he telling the truth? It may be the truth as he sees it. But he's an idiot, a fact that's obvious when he talks about the things he did.

(I know I'm gonna piss someone off here ... )

I don't see the problem with sex. It's a basic human activity and yet everyone seems afraid of it. What is it? All these old people aren't gettin any or what? Are they jealous or what? Geez ...

I think the truth was, he was boinking the team manager's girl...that's why he was kicked off the team.

to be honest, i'm frankly amazed that he could ride 150-200 km per day, every day for three weeks and still get it up...

No, it wasn't. Although your earlier title was more provacative, I found it offensive and didn't read the thread because of it.

I think the whole deal with Manzano and Kelme sounds like a classic case of sour grapes. I doubt that having sex has a measurable effect on athletic performance...although losing sleep might! I suspect that there were other, unstated, reasons for his being fired.

I am also quite convinced in my own mind that Manzano's expose of Kelme is going to be highly sensationalized.

They probably just fired him because they thought the idea of someone having sex with Jesus manzano was wrong. (a really bad, permanent practical joke they played on him? Poor guy cant get away from being pushed around about his name )

Well... Jesus is a very common Spanish name. Remember the band Jesus Jones? They got that name because they decided to pick one of the most common Spanish first names and combine it with one of the most common British surnames. Actually the suggestion was for Jesus Smith but they decided that Jesus Jones sounded better.

So my plan of stopping the prudish from reading my posts has finally worked!

Relax, I'm only joking. The reason I titled my thread (later changed) "Sex with Jesus" was to get more people to read it, so that in turn, more people would respond, and it would make for better discussion. My plan did not work on you. Regardless, I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, and I'm sorry that I offended you.

Perhaps it was the word "Jesus", and not the entire title that was the problem. See here:

I wasn't really that deeply offended. When I saw the title, I just decided I wouldn't read the thread. As I said before, the title was provacative. It was even clever. I honestly thought that the thread was going to be about winning a race or getting a new bike or something else that was as good as...or better than...sex with Jesus.

I've certainly offended people on this forum with some of my posts. It can't be avoided. So, really it was not that big a deal.

Now, Janet Jackson is truly offensive. I think her brother Michael is a Jehovah's Witness. Is she one also? If so, she should know better than to use Jesus' name as a curse. If not, she should still learn some diplomacy. I'm tired of her and Mr. Timberlake making "wardrobe malfunction" excuses. Whether or not the exposure was intentional, they should both simply apologize and be done with it.

In the meantime, keeping up with the unfolding Manzano scandal is interesting.

Who thinks Kelme will be in the TdF this year?

Remember, It's pronounced "Hey Zeus" not "Jee Sus"

Perhaps Sex with Hey Zeus would have been acceptable?

Also, his last name means Apple Tree I think.

It looks like regardless as to the validity of his accusations; Manzano has accomplished what he has stated as his sole objective – revenge. Knocking Kelme out of le Tour is a hard kick to the pocketbook of the team, and its sponsors. However, Kelme seems to be a sinking boat, with or without Manzano drilling holes in its bow.

If this scandal helps to clean up the sport, then perhaps ultimately it’s beneficial to all cyclists. However, there have been scandals in the past (remember Festina?) that haven’t done much toward that end.

Zeus is the godfather in greek mythology.

To be honest, I believe Manzano´s accusations to be right, at least most of them.
He was fired for ****ing the girl of one of the managers. Now, he want´s to take revenge and tells everything he knows. Sometimes he may exaggerate a bit, but the thing is that doping is daily business in pro cycling, even may in allmost all kind of pro sports...

Now, he signed a new contract with "Amore e Vita" a italian team of an anti-abortion association. A pretty little allocation of fortuities...

I´d be more likely to believe Manzano if he hadn´t sold his story to AS, Radio COPE and Antenna3TV on an exlcusive contract so that the rest of the media can´t question him , do interviews etc .
And why did he wait so many months ?
or go to the UCI or the Spanish government based sports commision that is now investigating ( the magistrates and the law are now involved )
a not very bright lad who seems to want revenge more than anything else . Oh and that "crippling " knee injury seems to be merely tendenitis of a form not uncommon among cyclists that ride out of the saddle a lot - cronic but not serious , rest being ( it seems ) the best cure .
