2009 Texas Racing Season: T-minus 37 days
I just registered for the Tour of New Braunfels (TX) on January 31st-Feb 1st... This will be my second year of racing, the ToNB was my first race ever last year. I didn't finish last, which was my goal.
Last season, I did two road races:
ToNB (didn't finish last, which was my goal)
Cold Spring (finished 37th out of 42)
2 Crits:
Sugar Land (DNF)
Houston Grand Crit (20th out of 49)
And a number of Memorial Park Training Crits.
THIS season, I'll be racing TXBRA and collegiate with Texas A&M (I'm a grad student). So my goals this year are to:
Get at least 10 races under my belt, both TXBRA and Collegiate.
Finish every race and never finish last
Finish with the pack each time.
I figure those are pretty reasonable, and in order of attainability. I've slacked off this fall with the training (fitting riding into my grad school schedule has been harder than I thought it would be), but have a better schedule this semester and a better handle on my time and weekends now that tailgating season is out of the way. I'm also resolving to at least get on the rollers every day, for at least half an hour each time (if I can't get out on the road).
What are other Texans looking forward to/setting as their goals this year?

37 days? Why wait? Jan 17th is the first race at Copperas Cove. Crappy roads and even crappier weather....good times....good times.

Shoot, I didn't even see that... unfortunately I'll be getting back from a 2 week trip to Qatar the day before, and actually probably won't even land until the 17th.

Making a kilometer blurry
I've decided to skip Copperas and go for Tour of New Braunfels. I'm not sure if I'll do both races, but, I'm really going to try to make the crit. We should be able to soak up a bunch of Cat 2 upgrade points between various teammates.

If I get a more modern bike with a better fit soon enough, then I'll race at Copperas Cove.
