Amgen start in Sacramento..we are ready!

Here in Sacramento the weather is chilly with rain showers on and off and the excitement is really building for a HUGE successful race! I have been riding downtown and everyone (including merchants) are excited about tomorrow's start. The Lance factor is big...and is bringing many additional tourists into town. Downtown crowds are expected in upwards of 100,000 which is much larger than last year. My camera is ready to capture some action photos of the pro's and the many vendors....hope the Specialized girl is back..lol.
I heard that Floyd crashed yesterday, but is ready to go with a few cuts and bruises. The drug sniffers tested Lance this morning too. This looks to be a very exciting Tour! I'll post my photos tomorrow evening after a full day of race mania.

I'm looking forward to it too! Meeting some NorCal folks for a morning ride before the race starts, then we'll be downtown for the start.

i'm here too. looks like showers in the a.m. and then cloudy in the afternnon for the prologue. i talked to cop near the start line and he said there were about 20k spectators last year and they are expecting more this year...."especially after that interview last night".

i was able to reserve a room five blocks from the capital earlier this week and there are a couple more vacancies....that kinda surprised me. it ain't the ritz but it's cheap and within easy walking distance from the action.

Hey Ed, thanks for the post of your photo site...great job! Are you pro/semi pro photographer? What camera/model did you use for those shots? I'm breaking in my D90 tomorrow and looking forward to finding a good vantage point.
Hotels: I tried to get 2 rooms for friends on Wed. of this week...nada...closest they could get was in El Dorado Hillls.
I did manage to get a few shots of the Liquigas (Italy) team this morning...moving out about 30mph in a light rain...very cool. Thanks again for posting your pic site.

thanx Jimx -- i am a pro .... professional electrician .

photography is a hobby for me. for the 2008 shots i used the 1d mark III + 70-200L f4 IS. for non-race shots i also used 24-70L f2.8.

this year i also have the 1ds mark III. i may post some quick and dirty shots tomorrow (i'm on a netbook) and i should have some pictures up sunday sometime because i plan to stay here tomorrow night too.

i also plan to be in santa cruz on monday, on sierra road on tuesday and on thursday we are headed to solvang for the ITT. let's keep our fingers crossed with the strom system .

Mark III? Arguably, one of the best. No wonder I can't afford a professional electrician...lol.
Sounds like you are going to get up close and personal with the Amgem this year...and yes, lets hope this weather does not get too bad. Look forward to seeing more of your pics.
BTW, I have had the good luck (and money..lol) to attend some National Geographic Workshops and although many of their pros shoot Nikon, the Canon M series is highly regarded.

The entire race staff is excited and ready to roll. We just had our "All Staff" meeting, and we've been looking forward to this event since BEFORE Lance announced his participation.

If you're anywhere near the Start of the prologue, you'll hear me.

I haven't been able to find start times anywhere. I know the prologue should run roughly 1:30-4:00pm but who's starting when??

Anyone know how they assign the start times for the prologue? Look at the last few riders to start. I can understand Levi going last but some of the others...

15:38:00 David Zabriskie (USA) Garmin - Slipstream
15:39:00 Lance Armstrong (USA) Astana
15:40:00 Christian Vande Velde (USA) Garmin - Slipstream
15:41:00 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Team Saxo Bank
15:42:00 Ivan Basso (Ita) Liquigas
15:43:00 Michael Rogers (Aus) Team Columbia - Highroad
15:44:00 Floyd Landis (USA) OUCH Presented By Maxxis
