So back to my question earlier guys. You all were commenting on Peterson helping Levi. My question was in what way did Peterson help him? Just wondering because I did not see any help.

Are you serious? He was out front all day long - he did exactly the right thing, no honor lost. Leipheimer was snuggled up in the peleton until Bonny Doon Road, and besides he has the yellow jersey, so there's really nothing to complain about here.

That was a prediction on my part; I assumed that Peterson would help, and that that's how it would pan out.

He didn't, but when he went there wasn't anything Levi could do about it.

He didn't, but there was no reason that he should have. A gutsy and smart ride by Peterson.

supposedly a person drafting you prevents the eddies which "suck" on the back of the lead rider, so actually, that descent should have been faster with Peterson on the wheel than if Levi did it solo. There is zero shame in sitting on and taking that win. As mentioned, Levi was tucked in safe for the entire day.

No - he was clearly red-lined. Levi kept gapping him by a yard or so, and he was clearly struggling just to hold on for most of that time. You do what you can to get the win, and that's what he did. It's no good to do the "honorable" thing if you get popped and sacrifice the win.

Levi never asked for help as he was working for himself and the race lead. Peterson probably couldn't have maintained the pace in the wind anyway. There is some aero advantage to Levi having a rider on his wheel. It makes the slipstream longer and reduces the drag on him. It's nothing like following a wheel but it still helps.

Also, Peterson was on the radio early. I am sure the DS told him to siton and not help. If he had, Levi gifts him the stage. If he didn't, he takes the stage, so either way it works. It would appear that Garmin didn't want him to help...maybe giving Z as much chance as possible to get closer.

JV posted this on the Slipstream twitter earlier today:
"Tom Peterson is a special kind of diesel engine. We may see the Little Engine That Could come out in force today. JV"

Levi, Rogers, Z, Armstrong, horner top five?? Poor Z He ALMOST managed to stick with Levi last year, but with Levi and Lance and Horner...I don't know how Lance will be when they get to that ridiculously steep grade climb in a few days, but I suspect that Astana is going to be dominant.

Here are a few shots I took this morning, in the drizzle and rain. For those who know the SF area, this is the junction of the Great Highway and Skyline Boulevard.
