my first crit race today
probably could say it sucked but im not going to bcuz i learned a little bit. it was very wet raining. maybe 35-40 rides who were majority were cat4s. the race from the get go was fast pushing 30mph i was out n front for the first 2-3 laps and started feeling it around lap4 where i got back to the mid pack. couldnt keep up with the accleration and ended up in the back then finally my 2 week long bad luck struck again. took a corner to sharp and the road edge was a nice lip that pinched my rear tire causing it to flat.:( next month ill try my first road race r another crit.

yeaa the weather put an extra twist on it. i was thinkin about try that crit but ended up gettin sched. to work
|
I have to apologize for doing some of the work driving the pace at times, although I was feeling lazy today and sat in for much of it after two days of long road races. I'm going through the pictures now...
There were 30 starters in the race, many of the racers that pre-registered were 5s judging from the reg lists for Cantua Creek and Pine Flat. |
|
damn was it majority of 5s. damn im slower than i thought. UMD r u going to be around the hanford crit or orisoi r.r next month? i thank im going to give one of them or maybe both of them a try. more then likly the road race.
|
UMD thanks for a more accurate report on the race field :)
|
I don't know that most were 5's, just that many were. Anyway, I'm not going to be at Orosi & Hanford. I did them last year because I missed out on the registration for San Dimas but I got in this year so that's where I'll be. Hanford is a nice figure 8 course. Orosi is just nasty, especially the descents on roads that are often piles of gravel.
Here are the only pictures I could find of you from the race. In the last one I am in white 5th from the right edge and you are coming in from the left edge of the picture. Oh yeah, and you can read my report on my blog. http://www.photoscene.com/kimandsteve/images/5134.jpg http://www.photoscene.com/kimandsteve/images/5135.jpg http://www.photoscene.com/kimandsteve/images/5136.jpg |
sweettt lol thanks. im going to o ride the orosi course this weekend or some time next

It must suck to be in a 4/5 race in California when the 4s look like they are warming up for a protour race.
Whatever happened to the citizens category? |

at least there weren't 100 people in the field. I'd like to also congratulate cody on NOT wrecking when he flatted on a corner in a wet crit. Staying upright is a relative win there.
|
Which corner was it?
|
the 2nd corner cant remember the road names. that first corner was dipped too
|
The first and fifth corners were the most annoying. The first had a lip where the asphalt met the crosswalk and no matter how I took it it was always jarring and my rear wheel would frequently skip out. The fifth corner is just tight and the asphalt is broken and there is a lip by the gutter and a pothole in the center. And if you take it on the outside you have to watch for the pole in the middle of the street and then the manhole cover as you set up for the final corner.
Anyway, I finally sorted through the pictures and put them on my blog. |
