Paris-Nice

No thread yet???

Before the TDU and ToC, this was always the "real" start to the stage racing season. Loads of history. Plenty of terrain changes. And stars galore.

Contador for the victory btw.

Yeah, Contador would be the odds on favorite.

I'm interested to see what David Millar can do this year. He seems to have indicated that he's making Paris-Nice more of a priority than years past.

I'm sure they'll all pay by the end of the day, unless they plan on not finishing out the season.

Sean Kelly comes out of retirement and wins his 8th.

In all seriousness though, Lance will win.

You're giving the Toc way too much credit. PN is the real start of the stage racing season.

You sounds like a clueless newspaper reporter.
Lance isn't racing Paris-Nice, but if he's the only rider you know.....

Euro snob? Look, the TOC is still a minor race. It is not even close to Paris Nice or even a race like the Tour Méditerranéen or the Vuelta a Murcia.

Those are just the facts. TOC is a nice race and is the biggest thing we've got going but its lack of history makes it a small fish in a big sea.

Those races you mentioned are huge in cycling history, but you have to be impressed by the Aussies and Americans with their ability to draw out the stars in Jan/Feb.
The start sheets were amazing.

I'd personally rather win the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen, Bel (2.1), as I'm keen on crosswinds and cobbles.

I read somewhere that he accidentally touched Tommy D and caught whatever it is that makes TD self destruct.

I'm going with Alberto just because I think he's on a mission to prove he's the patrone on Astana.

I think Saxobank brings the team to support GC, and I wonder if this is the offering Saxobank makes to Frank to prioritize Andy as the Tour GC leader.

Contador's good, and seemingly on form from recent performances, but his squad certainly isn't the "A" team, Popo not withstanding.

Haussler has form, but mountain finishes late in the race? hrmm... maybe not.

Chavanel? He was riding like a bat out of hell for the race formerly known as Het Volk and K-B-K. I like his chances as much as anyone's.

I don't think Riis would do that. Frank held the yellow jersey for a few days in 2008, and Andy is still young. I think that Frank is going to be their GC rider.

suggestion: sit back, read some posts, figure out who's who, and what they think, before you start preaching to the choir.

Say what you will about ToC but after just watching PN Stage 1 the crowds looked to be in very low thousands. ToC prologue the crowds where in the way upper thousands. Guess the French are ready for the start of the season yet.

PN > ToC

ToC is just too new to be considered in the same vein as PN.

too new, and considering that only 3-5 people there are actually trying to win it, not competitive enough.

How does Contador beat TT specialist like Millar and Wiggins on a 5.7 mile TT? I would think with a pancake flat course like today's the person with the most power would be the winner, and I would not think that Contador is the person with the most power. Maybe the rain**********??
