Would you race with a broken spoke?

It's not going to fail at ALL, period. It's not that, oh, your wheel won't explode, it'll just taco - nothing of the sort. What will happen is you'll finish out the ride, then go to the LBS and get the spoke replaced. Maybe a second one will break and you'll get another wobble in your wheel. I don't call that a wheel failure. I call that annoying.

1) release brake caliper if necessary.
2) keep riding.

I'd finish. I'd wager that a 31 spoke wheel is still less prone to failure than a machine built cheap 16 spoke wheel (which I see many racers on).
Ride on.
Ride on.

I guarantee you that if I flat a Zipp tubular short of the line, and there's a shot to win (without endangering others) the rim is history.

For example. Piston aircraft use 2 magnetos (to provide spark to the plugs) this is so that the engine can operate independent of the electrical system (unlike a car). So, if one of your magnetos fails... then the engine can still work perfectly fine on the other magneto... but would you continue the flight? Especially if there was no real necessity?
Wow.
That's some heavy shhhhht.
I've lost spokes in several races and kept going. I did not fall from the sky, but then my wheel did not fail. Once it was one of 16. Had I known I would fall from the sky I, of course, would have stopped, because falling from the sky would have killed me, though the odds of me landing on someone would have been small.
The only times I've ever seen a wheel bite the big one was the infamous R-Sys, and a Lightweight that hit a dog. I've heard a lot of clinking, swearing, and bemoaning, but other than those two no plop downs.

I'll have to edit and put together the helmet cam tape from the broken spoke race. I started it but never finished it. Only Prospect Park I have on helmet cam too.

I think you did what you felt comfortable doing, and you thought about it. That's not a bad thing
When my spoke popped (front DV46t) I stopped pedaling, figured out which wheel it was (it didn't go out that badly), and strongly contemplated stopping. I have some experience with wheel building and some idea of what happens to a rim when it collapses, what my wheel was made with (i.e. no carbon spokes for example) and made a judgment call based on my knowledge, experience, and what I was experiencing at the moment.
I've also been in situations where I got a pedal in my front wheel so hard it ripped a spoke through the hub and bent two others (spoke nipples pulled through the rim). Yeah, I sprinted on it (since the pedal went into my wheel during the sprint) but I didn't ride it after the race. I even walked the wheel back to the car.
It all depends on the circumstances and your comfort level.
