Quick question
I am signing up for my first race and it is apparently a 2 day event if i wish to participate both days...
1) If i buy a day licence (as i assume i need from reading the first timers section) does it cover the event or do i need one for each day?
2) the catagory says cat 5 / Citizen. What is the citizen?
here is the flyer

Citizen usually means you DON'T need a license and so could participate without. As for a one day? I think you would need it both days.
Know that if you enter as a 'citizen,' I don't think the races will count for your 5-->4 upgrade. Write the promoter. I have contacted him about a separate issue and he has been great about getting back to me quickly.

I do need a licence
gsteinb - I was just unclear as to what citizen meant and if it needed a licence
The promoter was unclear as to whether I need one or 2 day licences he is looking into it now...if it counts as two I might get an annual licence, otherwise I will probably just get the day.

out walking the earth
My comment was based on the citizen/cat 5 indicated on the flyer. Seems odd to me, but I predate fives all together so what do I know.

Citizen just means non-licensed (already)... but you still have to get a one-day license so you effectively become cat 5. I did a "beginner" race as my first race that you could only do with a one day license.
As for the two-day thing... all of the multi-day races I have been in, you fill out one waiver/license form the first day and then just sign in on a list the subsequent days. Presumably you would not need to buy another one day license. The usa cycling waiver form also has "event date(s)" so it is likely that was the intent.

well to avoid the hassle or the 1 or 2 one dayers I went ahead an got the yearly one. the purpose of this venture into racing is to keep me honest as far as training and such and if I feel like I need to race 6 times to get my moneys worth hopefully i will train more and lose more weight. Thank you for everyones responses.
