Yeah.. In February it was announced that my department was on the bubble for lay-offs and only last week got the official word that most of us get to keep our jobs for another year. And even then we won't know for sure until mid-May.

It really sucks and the stress (concerns over money) has taken my mind out of racing. I hope your former assistant finds better luck.

Walking into a fancy grocery store last night, a car pulled up next to me with four people inside, all women of varied ages. In a sad and desperate tone the driver asked me for help. Living in the city, my first instinct is to never trust anyone I don't know. She begins her sob story - "We need help, we're trying to get away from my ex-husband who's threatening to kill me and we're out of money..." I told her to go to the police and walked into the store to begin my shopping. Rule #1: Never give your money to anyone in a parking lot. There's going to be more and more of these sob stories both true and untrue. You decide how and when to respond.
