I've worn a couple different Rudy's. I loved both. I used to have the Aksium, which I broke and rebought multiple times. I then switched to the Kontact+, which I really love.
I would recommend the Kontact+ over the Aksium. Lighter, cheaper, just as good airflow, and I think it looks better.

I wouldn't spend too much on helmets. You'll just end up crashing them and having to buy new ones.

This is going to sound cheesy as hell and probably put me in the same class of pclown, but I realized today how much I love bike racing. I got dropped faster than you can say "off the back," ran out of water, got stomach cramps and couldn't even finish with the chase group. But I had an awesome freaking time and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I can't believe I went through the first 14yrs of my life as a chubby little kid with absolutely no desire to do anything physical. I love riding and racing bikes and I am so damn glad I started this sport. I love motocross, and it's tough for me to say this, but I'm not even really sure I miss it this year.

I went to the gulf today. I didn't see oil. But there's a bad storm brewing.

Friend keeps nudging me to ask out this super cute girl I've met - once. I'm going to ask; but I can't figure out if the cute girl is interested in me, or the friend is being a busy-body... kinda changes my tactics. Worst part is the pre-game nerves.

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. Obvs high school girls aren't the same as adults, but I'd say do it. I was unsure as well, but now I'm pretty glad I did it.
Has coddling tendencies.
Saw these guys on my ride yesterday. If you like your blues authentic, smooth and dirty, they fill the bill. I could have watched them all afternoon, but I didn't because I was on a ride. Ended up giving them all the money I had with me, which was three whole dollars. I pulled up as they were in the middle of a blistering rendition of Suzy Q by Credence. Guitar player is amazing.

I spent Father's Day paint prepping my living room. I have even most of the "cutting in" done. That doesn't sound like much, but I have 10 foot ceilings, picture rails, 4 doorways, two doublewide/double hung windows, built-in bookshelves and a window seat to work around and some of that wood trim needed prep as well. And the paint is a very dark "eggshell" finish so the wall prep has to be perfect and the "cut in" lines have to be perfect as well.
I'm beat.
I did notice that the rubber gloves and sponge that my wife and I bought for her yesterday so that she could help with the wall and woodwork washing are still in their original wrappers.

I rode through these spots of cool air in the wooded part of my ride today. Those were the best half seconds ever.

Wait. Harlem was today? Damn. I coulda driven over there and watched the race...
Oh well.
I suddenly have the urge to do a bike trip. Contemplating doing a ride from boston to wesleyan during the week and a half I have between moving to boston and starting work. I think it'd be fun. It's like 130-ish miles, so it might be doable in a day even in the crummy shape that I'm in. Now to figure out whether to take the road bike or the commuter. I'm thinking the commuter with 40 ring and 11-32 cassette should be great. Don't really need to pack much.

Mikey, check it: https://www.performancebike.com/bikes...6_20000_400026
I have that helmet. Never overheated even during 90 degree hilly road race days, comfy, light, and inexpensive. It's a great helmet, especially at the price.

PT wheel shipping this week. Sweeeeet.
I have a bell sweep that I love. But they were giving out 40% discounts on rudy stuff at HH today, so I figured I should use it. Thanks for the link though.

Spent the day hanging with the wife, instead of driving 3 hours to take some Okies money. It was really nice. Making her dinner now. Caught some of the first part of "Seven Pounds" we missed the other night, but still didn't catch the beginning.
Dark, depressing movie. I thought it was quite good. Of course I'd like Rosario Dawson in a tampon ad.
