About to head out into the dreary PNW afternoon.... it's not raining anymore, but it might as well be since my bibs are still damp! =[

It's gonna be a long 15-mile commute home today... but there will be no traffic jams, at least.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Main water line to the house apparently starting leaking sometime recently. Got a note from the water company saying we had a leak on our end. Couldn't find it in the house so went out and dug where the line goes in. One big sloppy shovel full later and it was confirmed. Four feet of mud later I spotted it and the hole excavated in the general direction of my foundation. Ugh.

Attempted to mitigate the leak with a 1 foot long section of an old Vitoria and duck tape. Fail. Plumber on the way in the AM.

That stuff is a drag. I had a leak from the house to the barn ...... I dug down about 4 feet .... then over a bit .... then a bit more .... found the plastic pipe with a small split. I managed to fix it myself by cutting out a section & splicing in a new bit .......... repeated a few years later ......

If it's cast iron pipe you can splice in a repair. I know about this from when it happened at my childhood home when I was about 14 or so. One of the worst beatings I ever got, the angry dad thought I was trying to avoid helping him and his violence rendered me unable to help that day. I guess I should let it go.

Awesome! Just started using mine last week and loving it.

Just went 21 hours without food. I downed a Jersey Mikes Sub, chips, soda, soft boiled egg and some Halloween candy with milk in the last 4 hours. Still don't feel full. Just satisfied. Sitting on the couch with leg up with a cold therapy contraption hooked up to my knee with a perscription NSAID & 40 Hydrocodone. Surgery went really well. I haven't had much pain at all. Haven't "needed" the hydrocodone at all yet (surgery ended at about 5:30 PM). Haven't needed the crutches either. Things are looking promising. We'll see if there is more soreness tomorrow. May take a hydrocodone before bed. Just to make sure I get a good night's sleep. Not sure though. Doc said my knee looks really good. PT starts tomorrow. All in all things look really good to get back quickly.

So, according to the Wall Street Journal this is the mascot the Dutch have adopted to get kids to wear helmets when cycling.

IIRC, though, that world has great cheeseburgers, so at least there's some balance.

Leg up, let the blood drain the bad stuff out (the highly untechnical recommendation always made by the surgeon that operated on my mom), heal fast.

All according to how long we stay and whether or not I go. The money will be the main issue. I think I heard it's $500 per person to go. Lower than I thought it would be but still pretty high - and right before Christmas.

I'll keep you all informed.

The show Im working consists of two characters per episode. I just got an email letting us know that A&E has just requested that they want us to deliver a different set of characters for the show due on Friday. It normally takes two weeks a cut a show....I'm going to be working doubles for the rest of the week.
