Three hours in the dentist chair today. The final leg of a long journey that started with a slip on ice last year that knocked out a few front teeth. Two more visits and some $$$ and its history.

Man, it sucks how stupid stuff like that can just drag out forever and ever. When I was a kid I was swimming and my friend skipped a penny across the pool just as I was coming up for air. It knocked me square in the front tooth and broke it in half. I have since spent so much time and money fixing that stupid thing, and it's still a little iffy. Hope you heal quickly, teeth problems suck.

The blog entry...nothing more...that dude is crazy, or a really clever writer, or an idiot, likely all of the above.

If it is patellar tendonitis (sounds quite possible), then running is the LAST thing you should do. Start a regimen of Ibuprofen, 600mg (that's typically 3 over the counter pills) three times daily (that's the prescription dosage). STAY on the ibuprofen without fail for at LEAST a full week. Lay off the bike for a couple of days and if you resume, spin low gears all week.

Careful with this injury, it's like a pulled hamstring, if you don't get on top of it, it can haunt you for months and longer (trust me on this). All this is armchair diagnosis, but if it feels better after a week of that you may have a handle on it. Phase in harder riding after 10 days or so, but only if it feels better.

Also: ice the area a couple of times daily. It's inflammation, you need to get it to calm down.

Believe me on the ibuprofen. It will only be effective with an injury like this in the right dosage and only if you keep the levels of the drug up in your bloodstream for at least a week or so. Better to take it with food if you can.

I've had issues with my right knee for 24 years, so I know something about stuff like this. Going for another round of Synvisc shots starting today in fact. You know how you know you've had knee problems for too long? When you know your orthopod's phone number by heart.

I thought that, subsequent to the invention of the cell phone, the idea of knowing phone numbers by heart was just a myth.

Someone needs to forward that blog entry to his CO. The Army can do much much better. I for one wouldn't want that moran treating me in the field with as much as a bandaid for a paper cut.

I think that blog entry is just detailing the reason why he was already in trouble with the army.

I used to know them by the tune that the pushbuttons made when I dialed people.

He got the tat...

I can't take this. This is the theme of a cheesy C level comedy, except it's apparently real.

Hopefully he violated his one year probation and is getting a ticket to Leavenworth. It sounds like he had gotten the probation for the initial incident and is now "in trouble." Dude needs to rot in a cell.

And PCad knew them by how long the little rotary thing took to click around?
