5.1KM loop - 7 laps.

The weekend would be nice to do if it was cheaper and not so far away. It's a closed circuit. Day one is a TT and crit race. Day two is the circuit race.

Great work, WR. Let's hope those boys keep the real arrows on the plaques and not under the noses of their little sisters.

Many thanks. Too bad there's not much money in woodworking. I guess I could get really good at making fancy boxes and hope for the best.

FWIW - there isn't any money in wheel building either, but sometimes you can't avoid following your passion. My $0.02.

If they're PSIMET tubulars - use VM&P Naptha.

I couldn't tell you for sure. I read about the Naptha (which is available at any hardware store next to the acetone, etc) from Zinn on VeloNews and saw it backed up by a few carbon manufacturers. Tried it and it works like a charm. Cloth rag, turn frequently and it will melt the glue off almost instantly. If you are rubbing too hard then just reapply and wham-o.

while I have you on the phone...

Is the brake surface on your tubulars different from the rest of the rim, or is it the same? I've got some yellow brake pad residue on mine that I think needs to be cleaned off.

This is very true. I'm lucky that about 1/3 of the time at work, I'm working on some really fun stuff in software (like I can't wait to get out of bed and get to work on a given day). This job also overpays a fair bit (fun/$), so it's a tough sell to do any other work that makes less money.

There are times when I'm just fighting bugs or working on boring user interface stuff, and those are the times I wish for making sawdust. Of course, with any furniture project, there are the times where I'm just spending hours next to the planer moving stock through it and emptying the dust collector. There are non-fun parts on both sides.

Normal. I have noticed that when using SwissStops. Does not change the life of the braking surface and in fact having it there I feel somewhat helps coat it to last longer. Regardless you can remove the streaks with no ill effect on the surface.

That's why we have words like "work" and "fun".

Glad to hear that. Thank you. Still contemplating the clinchers. Are you going to offer anything deeper than the 50mm rims soon?

+1 on the curiosity, either deeper or shallower.
Are you seeing any torroidal designs coming down the pipe? They wind-tunnel test a lot faster, and my torroidal hed jet6s handle really well in wind... way better than the 60mm 'V' profiles I've used from Reynolds.

I just picked up a set of 38mm tubulars because my sponsors kept sweetening the deal until I gave in and said yes. They'd had them on the shelf for over a year, and wanted to get them off the shelf for anything other than a total loss.

That said, there are better wheels, and I'd rather have a set put together by someone I trust more.

Ian, what types of savings were you getting on the Jet 6 C2 vs a kinlin 30mm or a reynolds 45mm?

so for our first philosophy paper the TA straight up told us the grades were really low. He said no one got an A, there were a few Bs, and mostly C/Ds. As someone who feels slightly over my head in philosophy in general (although I love it and find it really interesting), I was super nervous about my grade. We just got our papers back and I got a B+/B. Woot! So happy right now.

hrm... I didn't do any formal numbers testing, but it absolutely felt better at speed.
The hed felt like it was carrying speed really, really well - while the other wheels felt like they required much more work to keep them rolling.

Accelerations - the hed wasn't as great, and since my goals for this year have changed to be much more like one-day races and climbing/circuit races, my wheel choices have changed.

I bought the Jet6 to help me loose less time in TTs, while knowing that it wasn't perfect for climbing races or fast accelerations.
I'm not realistically going to be in a position where a few seconds will matter to me in a SR... I simply don't have the fitness.

Given that there are some one-day races with punchy climbing and cornering/accelerating opportunities, people who know more about this than I do recommended I look for light tubulars instead.
I'm getting more out of the jet6 than the set of name-brand 38mm tubulars w/ tyres cost me... so that's easily worth it.

But full credit to the hed Jet - at speeds over 24,25... it feels keeps accelerating when my kinlins & other wheels were starting to feel slower.
