I wish. I went out to do two 18 minute FTP intervals (kind of a complicated protocol -- hard variable start for 8 minutes). That was a big ask. I was coughing up lung butter before the start, just with my upper respiratory infection. I made it through 13 minutes, then the lung burning didn't feel natural, so I bailed. I was actually able to complete the hard part of the interval though, so that's good.

Boss wanted me to file something for Progressive Outer Retinal Necrosis.

It was filed under the acronym.
I giggled.

it was probably the green dude's wife/gf (judging by the way she's looking in green dude's direction)

Yeah if it's my wife/gf I wouldn't be gawking while racing.

I'm currently struggling with theoretical swag syndrome (not the usual TSS). I'm selling my vintage road bike and that will free up a ton of bike budget. Trying to resist the urge to upgrade my 6600/6700 group to Red/KCNC, get a Cervelo proprietary CF seatpost or get race wheels (I use alum clinchers). It's tough when everyone else has these nice things, but I don't feel held back by my equipment so I say no for another 5 minutes. I have a feeling it would all be lost on me anyway.

If you're upgrading anything, wheels would be the thing to do.

Oh man, way to fuel my obvious addiction

If I were to get wheels, I don't think I've found a better deal than what November Bicycles offers. Tubular or clincher now? Admittedly I have no interest in gluing and clinchers can be had cheap and light in 38 or 58mm. Which would you run? I've always fantasized about running 38mm front and 58mm rear.

stick shift intervals done. hard, but after two days of 2+ hours of driving the GTI i can now drive in stop and go traffic and not stall out, can drive on highways, and can smoothly downshift and upshift. Also, my legs are totally out of shape. got my ass royally dropped on the group ride on sunday, and am now a little sicker than before.

Go with front 58 and rear 58.

Plus one. The third photo would have been funny in and of itself. Seeing what happened just before and immediately after is priceless though - especially given that it's a sprint.

How much do you weigh harlan? 58's should be fine front and back.

And yeah, I'd go clincher too personally...

Nice! Before long it'll all become second nature to you and you'll be ripping around in that little car. Cars is my other hobby.

I currently weigh between 157-160 without trying too hard. Though I want to get to 155 it's absolute hell getting there.

I guess I was trying to be weight conscious with the mixed set but really I ride an aluminum frame (SLT) so it doesn't matter anyway.

If racing is more important to you, a powermeter. If riding is more important to you, light wheels.

Well I am a poor college student graduating this year, wouldn't it make more sense for me to get a powermeter in preparation for next season once I have a job?

I'm not even sold on getting nice wheels because I really only have $700 into my bike (I got a ridiculous deal used). Doubling the amount I have into my bike (probably more) seems silly at this juncture since I definitely have room for physical improvement.

There are some contradictions in these statements. You say you are a poor college student, but you're selling a bike and have cash for bike schwag. You have room for physical improvement but are not keen on owning a powermeter, which, BTW you can move to a different bike later in most cases.

You need to decide what your priorities are first.

Oh, I didn't know you didn't have a power meter.

So yeah, that probably. I'd go crank based, but powertaps are cheaper though you can often find octalink SRM amateurs for 700ish.

I guess so. I think my issue is that I don't yet see the benefit in training with power yet since I use PE.

I could find a PT rear wheel for pretty cheap. That'll go on the list before carbon wheels.
