heart rate training

It has been a two or three years since I raced with any amount of seriousness, and this year (I guess mid life crisis?) I am trying to really train with some amount of scientific approach instead of just riding on local group rides, racing, and riding on my own. I have had heart rate monitors for years but rarely actually used them with any attention, but now starting to see the value. Does anyone out there know any sources, website or book, that gives really good information for road racing training with an HRM> I have done the google searches but that does not seem to provide much information beyond the basics.

The Cyclist's Training Bible by Joe Friel is indeed the "Bible".

ditto to what he said, although you dig up quite a bit of info on heart rate training on the web. I'll PM you some good stuff.

I also like to couple this with Friel's Total Heart Rate Training. They really compliment each other.
