Authorization to Ride vs. License?

So my missus decided to 'tidy' my heap of cycling-related junk in the corner of one of our rooms.

So yes, I shouldn't have left it all in a pile...

But the short of the story is, my race license has vanished in the process (along with the perfect little heavy-duty ziplock bag that perfectly fit my phone and a bit of cash in a jersey pocket). Neither of us thinks she threw it out (though it could've happened), but I've dug all over and really can't find it.

My question is this:
Can I just keep racing on successive authorization to ride printouts, rather than forking over the $15 or whatever it is for a reissued license? Some start sheets for some races say 'must have license or authorization to ride,' so they presumably won't care.

But would I ever run into any problems if I didn't show up with an actual license, seeing as a license is pretty much just a scrap of paper with the same info on it anyway?

Annoyingly, I have no problem finding my expired British Cycling license and international leave to compete letter...
And unrelated, I have a UCI number from the UK which USA Cycling seems to have figured out even though I don't think I ever gave it to them myself... That's mildly nifty.

Yep. I continually print new ones. I can't remember the last time I actually saw my USAC license in card form.

Yes, I did it for a while when I couldn't find my license as well as after I upgraded before I got my sticker.

That was the point of the question... you can just print a new one.

ALSO I've shown people the license info on the USAC website from my phone and they've accepted that
