UCI rules at State TT champs?

Hey everyone

I'll be doing the CA state TT championships, and I was wondering if I should be concerned about the 5cm-from-bb-to-tip-of-seat rule?

Thanks

Howdy,

From the 2009 USAC Rulebook:

1B(b) Races for 17-18, U23 or elite riders (including national championships) that are used to qualify riders for national teams or international competition have the option of using UCI rules, either completely or in part, provided that notification is given to the riders 60 days prior to the event.

and

1M(e) Bicycles must meet current UCI technical regulations at events that select 17-18, U23 and elite riders for international competition or national teams. All bicycles used in National Championships (for age 17 and older riders) and NRC races must comply with the current UCI regulations

So unless there is some weird qualification in effect and you fall within that category my read would be no.

Come on. Where's the fun in that? Let's blindly speculate.

Never had my bike inspected at a California TT event. If you win someone might protest. More than likely you will be just another anonymous participant.

If you have to ask, it doesn't affect you.

If it did affect you, you'd already know.

I heard of the people at Redlands having there bike put in a jig. Of course that's the P1/2 race so maybe there are different rules for mortals...

I didn't know there WAS a CA state TT championship

But...if you're talking about the SCNCA district TT championship, then just USAC rules apply (Same for the NCNCA district).

Great way to promote amateur racing would be to require that all participants comply with professional equipment regs. Sorry no $6K bike, no ride.

The P1/2 is a NRC race and subject to bike measurements. The other catergories (excluding women) are not.

There was a proposal several years ago that actually made it into the rulebook that all bikes would need to be UCI compliant in a couple of years. That got killed off and we are left with the rules we have now.

The philosophy is that professionals and those who compete at the UCI level or are trying to qualify to compete at UCI events (ie. Worlds) should have to use the equipment they would use in those races. National Championships also got tied into that formula. Otherwise it is "run what you brung".

Hello,

I have never had my bike measured at the SoCal / Nevada Ditrict TT Championships. Of course I've never gone fast enough for anybody to care.

However, the only measurements I've ever seen are Junior gear rollouts.

I'd say don't worry abut it.
