Why are you on your team?

Sponsorship deals? Good teammates? Cool team kit? Because that's the only team that would let you ride for them?

#1, also the owner was pretty clear, starting last June, that he wanted me for the new team.
The only thing I don't like is the clothing.

The shop is close to home plus the owner buys beer.

No wonder we suck.

Amazing team mates with so much to teach me. My team is diverse in many ways they race with a lot of class in my opinion.

I like my teammates, but only one of the 3's races much at all. The 1-2's and masters race a lot, but that doesn't help me much.

1. Bought my bike from them last year (though at the time I had no clue that 6 months later I'd be racing for with / for them).

2. As I got faster, they were the only local shop that organized group rides on weekdays, so I rode with them, and eventually joined the team.

3. All the guy's are cool as hell, our kit rocks, and we're good.

When I started doing a small group ride a few years ago, the regulars who raced were all members of the same club. They were cool guys, so I joined their club. The club is large and there is a range of talent from ex-pros doing P/1/2 races for fun to fast century riders. Most everyone is out for fun (but the club often wins BAT in the district) and attitudes are relaxed.

We're a new team, a breakaway group from our LBS team. We felt like the LBS team was just a bunch of names on an email list, hardly any of which actually raced.

Conversely, I wouldn't be on any team that would stoop to having me.

It's been a smashing success.

Let me state in a serious note that Neal Boyd is an awesome guy. He heads our team and is one of the most prominent figures in local cycling. He does so so much for cycling in the Charlotte area.

All of the above. Mostly.

It's also the only team in my area, and by "in my area" i mean within an hour...because it takes about that long to get to the shop.

Oh, and PSI told me he was going to give me an e-wedgie if i didn't join.

^^ This.

Plus the guy who is the team leader of sorts was my cycling mentor as I went through grad school. I owe a lot to the guy and really wanted to be on the team because of him.

It's nice to have teammates to race with. I was on a club team but was finding I was the only one at the races... was riding with a group and when some team shifting happened (long story) a road team was being made within a mountain biking team and the guy spearheading the road push asked if I wanted on.

I knew I wanted to join a club so I wouldn't have to race alone.

I also wanted to surround myself with room to advance - and needed to ride with guys faster than me to push me, too.

One of my best friends was already on this club, and I wanted to race with him.

Rode with a lot of these guys anyways, good guys on and off the bike.

Great group of guys (and gals), and they race. I've been on teams where only a few people actually race consistently, this team has a presence at just about every race that goes off around here. We are also lucky enough to have guys who have been doing this for awhile so I get to learn as well. I also get to say that I'm RacerX's team....that's worth 10 points right there!!! We have really cool kit too!!!!
