Ouch... what shape are you in?
|
How are you doing?
|
Sorry to see that. I hope you came out of it better than your bike.
|
Wow. You slid that tire a long way. Did it blow?
I hope you're doing alright, that looks pretty rough. That's why I think people should race cheap bikes, definitely in crits. |
I am fine few minor scrapes, thanks for the well wishes. I stayed up right there was a guy with his front wheel stuck between the frame and my rear wheel so we slid forever. several went down around us looked like everyone walked away pretty good.
No the tire didn't blow kind of surprised me. The guy that hit be was able to keep going, he was on my left we went in to a slight turn and he swung wide hit me the guy behind me swerved and locked up with my bike. then the rest was from people braking trying to not hit us or from swerving into one another. |
send me the frame, I'll get it fixed by Calfee, and ride it for myself.
|
and people wonder why i don't race my nice bike but race a CAAD
|
I'm sorry to see the frame. If you want I'll send you the info of a local carbon repair guy with a 24 hour turnaround who could fix that right up.
I really feel for you, I know the feeling. |

TBI wednesday crit I presume? Such a safe course, too...slick roads?
I see the point in racing a cheaper bike that might be my next purchase after I get the Orbea back rolling. |
A friend of mine that lives in Uptown (Dallas) just broke his Orca... Top tube started developing a fracture, no crashes, 8mo old. They aren't going to warranty it. I was contemplating getting an Orbea, now I won't.
|
Orbea does not have a documented crash replacement program, they will just tell you to contact your local Orbea dealer and they will take care of everything through their rep. Friend ran over my Orca with his Ford F-150, frame was obviously ruined and Orbea took care of me no questions asked. The whole process took a little over a week before I had a new frame in hand.
That does look like it could be fixed by Calfee, but that will void your warranty on the frame, send those pictures to Calfee and see if you can get a quote. In my case it was cheaper to just purchase a new frame at the discounted crash replacement price. |
Had a crack on my top tube in my 08 Orca. Orbea said that there was a clear impact point from which the crack developed so no warranty.
They offered me a replacement frame only for $1300 (same color and year) or a brand new 09 frame/fork in any color for $1530. |

I've liked the way they've looked, but I'm never getting an Orbea now. Evar.
That crack could be fixed by Calfee for $300, and you would barely be able to see the patch. |

you'll have to take cervelo, trek, cannondale, and specialized off your list too.

Why do you say that? Trek replaced my cracked 5200 a few years back no questions asked
if as a mfr. defect, then that would be expected if as a crash replacement, then you got lucky as the "lifetime" warranties dont cover things determined to be result of a crash. |
I thought that pb2004's crack was a result of manufacturer defect but they turned him down anyway.
My bad. |

I've heard C'Dale's crash replacement policy isn't too bad, but that came from a dealer. Anyone have experience with it?
|
I had 1 crash on the bike a year earlier. I did have a slight scratch about 2 inches from where the crack eventually developed.
|
I know the Scott crash replacement is $500.
Glad you weren't seriously injured. |

Most other companies are the same way. Ever try replacing a cracked Specialized? They offer you a new frame for $1300, and that's it.
