She's been cutting her teeth racing with the junior open boys. There are 2-3 of the junior boys that are being held back from Cat3 so they can still race juniors. One of them is my coaches son. He whipped my a55 in Sundays race. She will typically last 5-7 laps with those guys, always the last girl standing.

I don't think she realizes the gravity of her State win though. She seemed more excited this morning when she came screaming into the house that she finally nailed the track stand on her road bike. I was watching her from the window and saw her do it for the first time....kind of like seeing their first steps...

This pic is from TMS James Bailey a little over a month ago. She's laying it to what's left of the field in the sprint (WR Style from way back). 1st place was up the road already on a long solo break. 2nd place that day. I wrote it off as a weak field etc etc etc... I was wrong I guess:

That is soooo cool. My oldest daughter wants to start racing, she still has a long way to go as far as even learning to ride her bike fast let alone race but she has the will. My youngest doesn't want anything to do with it...she was watching "Hell of the North" with me and saw the crash...too much blood....I can only hope my oldest gets the bug like your girl...you must be bursting with pride!!!

I thought it was determined that it's only a violation if it's a danger to other riders.
More like it's a violation only if the USAC Official on hand is a complete and utter asshat.

the woman official in the Tn area loves to call this violation. She's English and is on a huge power trip.

The directive from USAC said that if it causes an accident, then it's a violation, otherwise let it go, perhaps with a warning if it's "iffy"

I've seen her pull over people after a race and scream in their faces how stupid they were for giving a victory salute despite being nowhere near another rider. I have yet to see anyone come close to an accident in these situations. She just likes her powertrip.

Or perhaps there will be - it doesn't sound like she'll be a 4 for long.
(Disclaimer: I don't know the rules of junior racing)

Never been a more appropriate thread to grave dig, but

she's all growed up now....

2013 Texas State Criterium Champion - Women's P1 (Proud Dad in the background with hand in the air)

She beat her former pro teammate Christina Gokey-Smith. We thought Christina may have gifted it to her but - nope - Christina threw a fit and protested the finish. Pros don't like losing to 19yo Cat1s.

Since I missed this thread the first time around (huge congrats to Doggus and his daughter, that's so awesome, both then and now), I think I actually happened to race with this official when I was in Knoxville a few years ago and did a race since I was there. I ended up crashing myself out and getting a concussion, but I remember her being a little over the top.
