I suspect congratulations will be in order

To Mr. & Mrs. Merlinextralight after tomorrow. So I'm pre-empting and saying "Congrats!"

Oh yeah, and Mike Arena, best of luck tomorrow!

Nope! Not quite. When I scurried out of there after looking at the preliminary results, they had me at 5th.

My ass hurts too. Not the "I just had a saddle jammed up there for an hour" hurt, but the "holy crap, I didn't know I used those muscles to ride a bike" hurt.

Congratulations to you too though -- you looked good out there! Definitely not bad for only having ridden the bike five times this year.

Thanks. The competition was tough in our division. We missed our goal by 2 minutes, but good training nonetheless.

Exactly...

I think we're all just sitting around our computers because we don't want to get up again.

Good to see y'all out there! Kudos on convincing your wife to suffer through that with you. Mine was scared to call me for fear that I'd be grumpy. I was still cross-eyed when I saw you and didn't see how you'd set the tandem up..did you have aerobars? What wheels?

I think you can get state champs jerseys now..heck, wear 'em for a Velobrew picture.

Sorry I wasn't there today to cheer you on as well as my teammates. I haven't heard anything from Dave Low as of yet, so I don't know how my teammates did.

I "bagged" this race to focus my training for the Ocala Stage Race weekend instead. If I feel as good in two weeks as I felt today ...

I'll have to look into the jerseys.

This is the TT setup, clipon aerobars up front, cane creek speed bars in the back, hed trispoke front, and cobbled up disc cover in the back.

I really have to give Deb a lot of credit. Her first TT ever and she rode strong the whole way. Honestly, I don't think I rode as hard as I could, knowing we had no competition, I think I settled a bit instead of pushing deeper into pain. Of course its always easy to think afterward you could have gone harder.

And running off the road on the turn around didn't help.

What was your average speed? I'm guessing tandem time trials are pretty freaking fast.

The winning time for the p/1/2 field was something sick like 50:20. My math has that at just under 30mph (29.8?).

There were three guys under 51' on a correctly measured course.
Yip Tsang, Grant Potter and Dave Viney (the 58 yo Canadian transplant).
Nice...

Yeah, I saw that.

Sick sick sick. Sorry to see the Dave get beat by 2 young pups (Grant's what, our age?), but damn still 50:48 for the old man isn't slow at all.

Do you have the full results by any chance? I lent Ryan my hrm for the event and wanted to see how he did before I called him today.

Two strong riders on a tandem can be smoking fast. We were painfully slow.

Does anybody know why FloridaCycling is missing results for a bunch of categores (3, 4, mixed tandem, and maybe a few others)? Is it just me?

edit: Nevermind, 3s are up. Still no 4s though.

Thanks! I only got to glance quickly on Saturday before I had to hop in the car and catch a ride back home. It had been keeping me up at night how much time was between me and the guy in front of me.

Thanks. It's small victories like that that make it worthwhile. A minute into Eric, at least a minute 20 into all the other 352 guys (except for Andrea, obviously)... I'll take it where I can get it.

Would have liked to see what you and the Aussie could have done out there.

Thanks for the "locker room" posting, Mike. Ocala weekend is coming up and I'll be there with the other "352" guys. I'll make sure that they know what you said.
