So much for Fitchburg
The TT is now flat and they just had to take out the final climb up Wachusett. So much for caring about w/kg this season, think I'm just gonna get fat.

That's the spirit.

the state is digging up the road to bury power lines.
|
wow i'm glad i decided not to make the trip up this year.
|
Oh man. Now they only need to flatten out the circuit race and I'd consider doing it again. lol.

What's the deal with Fitchburg? Is it actually sub-par this year?
|
There will now be few if any time gaps on the road race course. Also, the TT course has been moved to a flatter area, and is 8mi long. Bad news for climbers, good news for TTers.
To carpediem- I LOVE that circuit race course. I never do well in that stage, but its so bat**** crazy I can't help but love it. Its a 3mi long crit. |
It's become a stage race that has a good chance of being solely decided by the TT, it'll still be run well but I suspect that it will overly favor one type of rider through all four days rather than a variation (and of course I'm not that body type)

Great. Slightly pissed I signed up early and will drive all that way now.

Wow, I was wondering how they were going to finish the road race with Mt Wachusett closed for repairs.
I don't know about the TT, but it's got to be a better stretch of road than the TT up Rindge Rd. Why not move it back to 31 from the Hotel********** Details of the race course are at: http://www.longsjo.com/Longsjo_Home.html |

No joke. I've never been bumped on both sides at the same time before like getting around the 1st couple of turns when the field goes from 50 wide to 5. It was like a 'cross start. And of course, most of the course is down hill so it's very fast. My teammate at the time described a lap as easy easy easy easy hard hard HARD.

That really sucks. I knew they had to move the TT because the road was becoming unbearable. Stupid Mass for deciding to do road work when the biggest cycling event in Mass is taking place. God I hate this state.

always had crap luck at fitchburg, but it always brought my fitness up to a new level.

Hmm... really thinking about this one. I have the legs, time, money, and lack of responsibility fitting of a single 27 year old.
The only thing I've got a problem with is the circuit race. The Cat 4's do 25mi, the Cat 3's (me) do 28mi, but the 2's get to do 50mi. The Cat 3's should get at least 35-40mi in that race. Distances on the crit are also kinda puny, but since the real bump only comes between the 2's and P/1's, I'm ok with that. Maybe I'm a massichist, but if I'm gonna go spend 4 days out of town over 4th of July, I want lots of time spent actually racing. |
