Time Pedals- Who rides 'em?

I had enough close calls sprinting in Speedplay Light-Actions that I decided to switch pedal systems, and a while back I ended up with a pair of Time Impact Mags for 30usd, so I decided to give them a try.
I've got a few hundred miles on them- and now that I'm LOOKing around- I have not seen hardly anyone else riding Time pedals.

I see Speedplays and LOOK pedals by the bucket loads, plenty of Shimano DA & Ultegras... does anyone here ride them? The search didn't dig up anything of note other than the recall that happened a while back- is there any particular reason, maybe people don't like the centering spring?

Speaking of which- any opinions on the centering spring, like/dislike? Why?

thanks

I know a guy who was used to speedplay zeroes and pulled out of the time's on one of his first rides on them. End result was a broken collarbone.

I'm a spd-sl guy myself. I love them.

I went through 3 sets of RXS and RXS carbon pedals. They do not fare well in even minor crashes... seems that the nose where the front of the cleat engages is the most vulnerable part and likes to break off upon contact with the ground. The cleats are made from a very soft and flexible material; they're expensive. That said, they work very well however. Easy in and very positive engagement. Float is good and I never pulled out on accident.

I'm running Pro-Fit pedals now and don't like them. Definitely going back with SPD-SL again when it's time to change.

I've run Time pedals since 1991 (although there was about a 10 year break from cycling in there). Had the white equipe pedals initially, and last year modernized to the RXS. I see a few people around the NE with them...no troubles for me.

Same experience for me...I have the RXS carbon now and I have been satisfied with them...embarrased to say that I did lightly touch ground when pedaling through a turn in a crit a couple of weeks ago...didn't skip a beat really...pedal is totally fine from what I can tell...

I have at least 8 pairs of the Times. Other than the issue that was taken care of with the recall I've had no problems.

I've been using RXS carbons for about six months, switched from old Look deltas. The float is much better on my knees, but I'm not exactly a wattage powerhouse and haven't had any issues pulling out. I tend to keep one of them at a lower release tension than the other b/c I have a history of knee injuries on one side, but haven't had any issues with centering. I am having a small issue with positioning- since the front bolt of the cleat doesn't have any side-to-side movement, just angle adjustment, I'm not sure if I'd be better off swapping the L and R cleats for the wider stance.

Time has crummy US distribution, which is part of why you don't see them.

I have both RXE and RXS pedals and liked them. I just recently broke the "racing clip" off one of them. No clue how it happened, and to be honest, don't even know what they are there for.

I'm still riding on it - waiting for new ones to arrive - but just do any hard efforts on it.

I've had RXE, RXS, and RXS Carbon on various bikes.

I like them, though I have broken the front bit on the RXE. They still worked though.

They're much more common in Europe, and a lot cheaper.

What about a pair of these Mavics for $99 or the Nashbar Ventoux 2 Mags for $35 ?

I ride RXS's, wore out the bearings on the right pedal after ~3000 miles, got another pair from a friend for free so I've kept them.

Cleats are expensive, but I like the fact I can add Q factor to help my duck feet from hitting the crankarms too often.

I ride the TIME RSX pedals with quite a bit of float and I have never pulled out of them. I have to swing my foot out a ways to disengage, not like it hard to do though when I actually don't want to be attached anymore.

I've been riding RXS Edge for about 1,000 miles now and like them a lot. They are very easy to clip into as they orient the same every time (pretty much straight vertical), and seemed to "wear in" a little in that they were easier to clip into after about 250 miles than when brand new.

They definitely have different float from any other pedals I tried - hard to describe, but it's not only the "pivot" float like Look or Shimano. Kind of more "circular" for lack of a better term. It's different and "freer" feeling to me.
