yet ANOTHER upgrade Question 3-->2

I'm thinking about getting out of the ultimate category. I currently have greater than 25 upgrade points for 3-->2 upgrade accumulated between 6/14/2008 through 6/7/2009. If I dont submit my upgrade until August, do those points "expire"?

Upgrade language from USAC site is here:

3-2: 25 points in any 12-month period
40 points in 12 months is an automatic upgrade

I'd like to race the rest of the year for other team mates (all 3s), without my own worries about compromising my goal of upgrading to Cat 2. My take on this is I can go and race the rest of the season without getting another result and that I still have the results to get my upgrade after the seasons end. Is this correct?

Please, this is not a should I upgrade or am I ready thread, but rather a rule clarification thread that I'm hoping others can provide their input/experience ... and another point of clarification, I'm a long way from sandbagging

i think it's up to the rep.

My reading is the same as yours: 25 points between 6/14/2008 - 6/13/2009 means you can upgrade. Even if you decide to upgrade on 12/1/2013.

Why not just ask an official at your next race for a clarification?

Or better yet, email the guy/gal?

As I understand it the points do not expire. Congrats on accumulating them!

I'm thinking you'll have a chance to ask an official this weekend.

Either way, it's a nice problem to have. Congrats.
