Colombian cyclist Juan Barrero died

This is so sad.

From Eurosport today!

Colombian cyclist Juan Barrero died after falling during Stage 5 of this year's Tour of Colombia on Friday. 31-year-old Barrero took part at the Colombian tour for the sixth time in his career when he skid on a downhill section with his bike between Santa Rosa de Cabal and Chinchina in the Western part of the country.

Barrero, who was ranked 30th in the overall qualification, suffered serious head and chest injuries. Although the Colombian cyclist received on-site medical treatment, Barrero died shortly after his accident, reported the Colombian Cycling Federation.

May you Reast in Peace.

I found this.

Rest in peace Juan Barrero

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) -- A cyclist was killed Friday when he crashed during the fifth stage of the Tour of Colombia.

Juan Barrero, a 31-year-old Colombian, suffered serious head injuries after he got tangled up with other cyclists and fell while negotiating a fast downhill curve.

He had a cardiac arrest and died while being transported from a small hospital to a larger one, said Orlando Cardona, director of the San Vicente de Paul Hospital, located about 100 miles west of Bogota.

Two other cyclists were also injured in the crash, Cardona said.

``The fall was massive and Juan took the brunt of it,'' said his brother, Manuel Barrero, also riding in the tour.
